Hates men. Outdated course materials. Uses TAs to mark assignments. Topic she teaches is cool, but she's too opinionated to be usefull. Not long for UBC

Very interesting professor. She is VERY opinionated, but it makes the class interesting. Exams are pretty straight forward; if you do the readings and study the lectures you won't have a problem. Journal and debate are easy marks. Paper is a little tougher. All in all its an enjoyable and fairly easy class.

Told us the midterm was going to be applying your knowledge and then asked specifics (what are the 7 challenges for aboriginals?)...avg was 63% and then went and changed everyone's grades but 10-20% if they complained

Took 454b and 464 with Simone. 464 was easy. You get to bring a cheatsheet for the midterm. I fit all classnotes and readings on sheet with 5 point font and got perfect. I never went to class. Didn't need to study because i had the cheat sheet. There is an easy group paper and presentation. Also a journal of readings tht i made up. EASY BOOSTER

Simone is interesting and knowledgeable on the subjects she approaches. I didn't learn all that much, but it was interesting to hear her opinions on different issues. The paper and poster are good, class is fun and interesting. Marking is dependant on TA, but relatively fair. Plus, Simone is so approachable about anything.

Interesting class, I enjoyed it. Do the readings! Read the lecture notes and you will do well in the class. Tutorials are a little repetitive but easy marks so may as well.

Super! Classes are never boring since she is so passionate about her subject. Lecture notes extremely organized and easy to understand. Midterm and final both ridiculously easy if you read the lecture notes and readings at all. Highly recommend this class for an easy A.

she was great in class, but tutorials became a little boring and repetitive after a while with all of the debates. she was pretty helpful and engaging in her lectures, exams were pretty tough

i wasnt very interested in this class at the start, but i love how simone challenges people to look at things a different way. its not the class for you if you think sports are perfect the way they are, but if you really want to LOOK at things, shes the perfect prof. 2 thumbs up.

She seems quite out of touch with reality. She constantly disagrees with students' opinions. She says things that almost no one agrees with. She's a nice lady, her views are just a little extreme compared to the majority.

If you want to ace this class, keep up with the readings, take extensive notes anddd that's pretty much it. Note though, she's a tough grader so make sure you proofread your work - she corrects your grammar too. hehehe just a headsup.

I took 252 in '03 or '04 and it was my favorite class, and Simone was my favorite prof at UBC. I think it's sad if she is changing her ways...

death by powerpoint, you hope that people interrupt with questions so there's less to copy. people can be very inane in discussion. TA lexi a very tough marker, TA brad is easiest. final exam is easy if studied for, but is only 30%. takes days to do readings for exam, only worth 50% of exam.

Very nice prof. You won't do well if you don't do any work, but an A is definitely possible if you study...most of the test questions are directly from the notes she gives.
