Lots of reading and writing. Be prepared to write two papers a week, which can take up a lot of time. Although, they are not graded harshly at all. The two major papers are rough, but this class has no tests or quizzes

After 15 years of schooling it tends to become monotonous. But with Skurky you feel like you're getting something fresh. It's not the same **** you hear in every other class. He encourages you to think on your own, not simply accept what he's saying as fact, as do most professors. Highly recommended

I liked Dr. Skurky a lot. He's an extremely intelligent guy who has been around the world. He assigns a lot of work and attendence is definitely mandatory but he doesn't grade hard. I would definitely recommend taking a course with him.

Did not teach the class, rather the class taught themselves. He lectured for 2 weeks then began student presentations. Gave an assignment then sat in his office during class time if anyone had questions. I pay to go here right and be taught right?

His idea of abnormal psych was an over zealous report of this wonderful travels in indeginous countries..of course they were just glad to see another human being. I took the abnormal class at the local community college where I learned more in one week.

In his abnormal class there were few major assignments, two major papers and a weekly journal. His t.a's read the journals and graded those. He reads the papers, and grades very harshly on them. You could do great on the journals and still fail.

his classes are just sales-pitches for his pet theories. if you want to learn about abnormal psychology or child development don't take the classes with him. and he does grade down if you disagree with him in your papers, no matter how well you do it.
