Comment:

Sonia is fantastic. The only way to fail this class is to not try. She gives you everything you need: lecture notes, presentation slides, study guides, practice exams, etc. Yes she's introverted but she's always willing to answer your questions and she's brilliant. She is also the only professor I've had who was actually on par with her syllabus.

Comment:

She is a great teacher. All you need to do is attend the classes and you get points for being there. 35 I believe. Helps your grade in the class big time. Also, her essays on the exams are based off of exercises done in class so that's another big reason to attend. Her lectures/class discussion are interesting. Would definitely take another course.

She gets a lot of bashing for all sorts of things, but its ironic because if anyone would actually listen and try to learn from the class they would be able to understand why she is the way she is and be able to accept she is an introverted person who is not going to search you out but cares. Pay attention to her and go to class you will get an A.

Usually group projects will help your grade - beware. In this class, it can hurt you. You are responsible for your group's work, so pray you are assigned good partners, or be prepared to do the work yourself. Dr. Goltz is not unfair - she just has 0 tolerance for BS. She has very high expectations as she should - you're an MBA for gosh sakes!

Professors lectures from her high horse even with lack of credentials. Easily the worst professor in her department, i'd say the school, but I haven't seen every professor here teach.

On the exams, if you do not stay the information exactly as she has presented to you (word for word) it is wrong. Now compromise, her way or no way. Thinks she is superior. If you don't come to class or are late, your grade will rapidly decrease. Exams are interesting to say the least.

For a B: 1 Buy the book, Read the book. There are quizzes on the readings and doing good adds up 2 Go to class, take notes and participate this way when you get to the exams you have material to use 3 There are two papers and two exams. Put time and effort into the papers and you don't have to do too well on the exams 4 Easy extra credit DO IT!

My experience has been mixed. Goltz is willing to look at a draft of your final paper and responds well to questions via email. She is also unclear about expectations for posting online, if you have questions about anything - ASK. Material presented is better suited for undergrad course, not MBA level managers.

Lecture is super boring, online quizzes can be tough. Exams are almost impossible to do well on. I wouldn't recommend taking a class with her. If you take MGT3000 with her though, the papers you write definitely help as you can email them to her to have her look over before the due date.

If you don't absolutely HAVE to take a class with her, don't. Most boring, monotone professor who relies on outdated material from the early 90s. Also tells way too many stories about her husband and other irrelevant information. Finally, she discriminates against guys so if you're a male, learn to suck up.

I was terrified to take her from previous comments, and while she is very tough on attendance and grading, I did not find her to be as ruthless as people make her out to be. She's just doesn't tolerate laziness or rudeness. Go to every class, be willing to participate and speak up when she's looking for opinions, study hard, and you'll be fine.

All of these comments made me nervous to take this class. It's not hard at all and she is not a bad teacher by any means! She gives you study guides with the EXACT content that will be on the exam. So if you do bad, it's your fault because you didn't study. I would take a class with her again!

Took her MBA class on OB. Was thoroughly disappointed by her lack of practical experience of any kind and her resultingly stilted grasp of the course material. Tremendously poor instructional and evaluation technique. Overall, a dismal performance and a class experience from which I gained little and would not care to repeat.

Absolutely useless as a professor. In my 6+ years of study, I have never encountered a professor who is more impossible to understand or unfair. She took every grade and curved it to what she *thought we deserved* in the class, thus taking me from a solid B to barely a C. By far the worst professor in SBE, and probably in all of Tech.
