Stacey is the best science teacher ever, and also the toughest. I took the whole bio sequence with her. Her classes will take everything you have. Don't need to take her classes? Don't. Need to take bio classes? Take hers. She's a tough grader but she knows what she's doing. The hard work is worth it. She's an awesome person and you'll love her!

Took the entire sequence w/ Stacey and while I understand some peoples frustration, I would say that it is very reasonable to not only pass but get an A. The class structure makes it feel harder than it really is as both tests combined are only worth 25% of the overall grade. Talk to Stacey often, use the learning objectives and you should get a A

Don't expect to sail through this class with an easy A, but it is fairly easy to at least pass. She is the hardest grader I've ever had, but if you put in the time, participate and read the (short) reading assignments you will do fine. Her class is the best way to learn biology at Lane, hands down. Also, do your Need to Knows!

Absolutely horrible teacher. No lecture, questions on tests were things like "How do you get to my office?" and "What buttons did you click on this website from 1999 we used in class?" Take another teacher.

I took all three (211/212/213) BI classes over a year ago & I still think about them. She structured the classes so that you can learn how to be better for future harder courses. She pushes you to think deeper, to be clearer in your explanation, and has one of the most engaging lectures I have attended. If you make the effort, it will be worth it.

Zero organization, zero lecture. Lots of irrelevant group discussions when none of the class had anything to add. Not sure I learned anything, but at least she didn't trash my GPA. Take this class elsewhere if you plan on learning or moving forward in science.

Stacey is an overall awesome person, but she can easily become off topic. She has an expectation that you must already be an expert in science, and rarely gives good lectures. The class is mainly lab-based and repetitive. She gives out a study guide for her tests, but don't study it too hard, because the correct answers are vastly different.

I took her class almost 2 years ago and I can tell you that she is a wonderful teacher but you HAVE to STUDY, as with MANY science classes. I have now taken 2 years at the University taking mostly science classes, Stacey helped prepare me for this. I graduated LCC with a 4.0 and although Stacey is a tough grader an A is possible in her class.

Stacey is a hard teacher. DON"T expect to sail through her classes. Sometime she doesn't give the clearest direction s but if you talk to her and ask specific question she will def help. She grades hard so that she know that you know materials. She is funny and easy to talk to. Spend time in her office hours alot. Honestly the hardest class I had

Okay, I don't understand why Stacey has a bunch of negative reviews. Yeah, she's not an easy grader, but I think she's fair and realistic. She wants to prepare students for upper-division classes which I think is important. She's a really cool teacher with a great sense of humor. I personally recommend her. Biology is a tough subject but worth it.

Her instructions and expectations were were unclear. The information for the course was taken from textbook, various online labs and articles, as well as links to websites. With so many resources and ambiguous instructions this class was too difficult to take as an online class. She only had online office hours, for one hour on Sunday nights.

She's a very harsh grader. I usually like tough teachers, but NOT when they're as unclear about their expectations like Stacey is. Her written instructions are confusing, full of grammatical errors, and often don't match her verbal instructions. She asks for student feedback, but seems very defensive and set in her ways. Good sense of humor though.

Very different teacher. Very specific grader - want's her ideas regurgitated. Bad time management, too much idle time. Doesn't lecture, but expects everyone to find the same answers on their own. Nice person, helpful in office hours. More time spent trying to please her, than actually learning material. UO study groups are worthless.

The exams and essays were very difficult. But, I ended up getting a better grade in her class than the previous two terms with other teachers. Make sure to do well on the report and then not so great grades on the exams aren't as detrimental. One thing to keep in mind, the strict grading will aid you later at universities.

I did not appreciate all of Stacey's methods, but I feel prepared to move on to upper division courses. Do not be fooled by the festive classroom atmosphere into thinking that you will not have to study hard for any of the principles of biology sequence. Hard to get an A, but easy to pass the class.

I have no idea why Stacey has such bad reviews on here. She's a great teacher and obviously loves what she does. She makes the class very interesting and makes sure you get a ton out of the class. I took Bert for 211 and Stacey for 212. They both seem to grade about the same on the tests and quizzes. I'd definitely recommend both Stacey and Bert

Expectations far exceed explanations in class. She asks for feedback on her teaching but does not implement change in her teaching style. Most of the material on the tests and quizzes are not discussed or explained and seem like new material. Avoid this class if possible.
