Dr. Arnold is someone people either love or hate. As a history major, his lectures were great, however, if you don't pay attention to lectures, and take good notes, it might be hard to pass the midterm/finals. Very up front of the guidelines. Did take attendance as well.

He wasn't back. He just talked about nothing to much, and never, I mean never, return a single email I sent him. I'm saying like 30 or so email. His TAs were not the brightest and they made up information to help them sway arguments, when called out they yelled and left class. They were probably the worst thing about his class.

His lectures consisted of him talking about events in history and then trying to connet them to our lives today, most of the time we just had big class discussions. He gives a study guide for the exams and its very broad and unhelpful. He grades his papers easily though. You shouldnt skip class if you want an A as attendance is mandatory.

We honestly did not do much in the class itself, but we learned a lot about how to do Oral History. It felt that we just sat around and talked about random stuff. Turn in your research project and you'll pass.

He's a pretty funny guy and makes class enjoyable. One problem I had was that his lecture is just him talking and writing some key terms on the board. It's up to you to listen and write down what he says. This makes it pretty hard to keep track of everything he says and you also are not totally sure what to write down. Don't underestimate the tests

Solid choice for a professor. Nice, fairly good grader, and gives opportunities throughout the semester for extra credit. Pretty good overall. Lectures are important, sometimes will say whats on the tests. Show up and takes notes and you'll pass.

Arnold was a great guy. His lectures are usually pretty funny but they are not always on topic. He assigns readings for every class but they do not really come up until the midterm and final. His study guides are more helpful than they look, take the time to fill them out. You can only miss 5 classes before your grade is lowered.

Dr. Arnold is able to make the lectures in HIST260 interesting. As long as you attend class and listenpay atttention, you will do good on the tesst. A lot of the tests relate to things he discusses during class. As long as you pay attention you will have no problem getting an A.

Professor Arnold is someone who definitely knows what he is talking about, which is good considering he has a doctorate. His lecture form is somewhat different and he tries to engage his students a lot, which doesn't always work out that great. Pay attention to the things he says in class and ask his TA for help. His tests are somewhat difficult.

He was a very awesome teacher! I have taken his class twice and made sure to get him the second time. His lessons are easy to follow along, and tests are easy as well. I rarely skim the book and just look over notes to prepare for tests. He is a must!

I hated this class. Although the exams were not that bad and he provided good study guidelines, the overall structure of the class has absolutely no structure. There are no powerpoints, lecture outlines or anything! He just stands at the front of the classroom and goes on a tangent about whatever he wants (often time it is not realted to class).

In reality, he's a good teacher; the man has a doctorate so I'm sure he knows what he's doing. His teaching style is pretty different, he tries to engage the class. he's pretty lenient on things like texting. the writing assignments aren't hard at all but i advise you see the TA's for help studying for the midterm and final.

Professor Arnold is a great teacher and has been one of the best at NIU for years now. He's funny at times and tries to make things interesting and understandable. He's not the type to kick a student out for texting and stuff which is cool. He has 2-3 written assignments and 2 exams, so make sure you do your work and study.

Was not a fan of this class or teacher at all! He is not helpful knowing he will never email you back. There are no power points and he just talks the entire time. He give a huge general study guide out when your 2 exams are literally 12 questions. I hated this class and dreaded going to it!

I had high expectations for this class & was very disappointed. Dr. Arnold NEVER returns emails, doesn't post to Black Board when he says he will, and when he does it's cryptic. He lacks interest in his students! It's a shame he's teaching this course because the reading material was interesting, but he doesn't know how to teach the class - tragic!

Easy class, but very hard to sit through and pay attention. Papers are easy, exams are somewhat difficult. Study guides before final and midterm are very helpful. About 90% of the stuff he writes on the board can go in one ear and out the other. Very old school with grading.

He's a good guy, with entertainment in his lectures. Too bad there's little that he says that you actually see on his tests. The tests aren't that hard, but you're poorly prepared. If he's a doctor, than I'm a neurosurgeon
