clicker questions for attendance, theres easy homework every week. 2 exams and a final. Final is cumulative. Exams aren't hard if you do the sample questions he gives. He's definitely passionate about the material but most people do not pay attention to lectures anyway. Took this class as a breadth and it was pretty interesting. Easy class overall

Stan is a very nice guy, but extremely unorganized. I went to almost every class and can't recall anything . He has clicker questions almost every class that you need to get right or you only get half a point. Never touched the textbook once. Exams are very tough, I took this class as a breadth and DO NOT recommend anyone does the same.

Professor Owocki is a very kind and genial professor. However he's not fantastic at making the complex material accessible to non-science majors. I took this for a science requirement, and it was incredibly challenging. He moves quickly, the math is complex, and while I'm glad I took the course, I caution you that you need to work hard.

Owocki is a great professor. Sometimes hecomes across as a bit confusing in class, but if you ask questions and attend office hours he's totally useful. Also, if you plan on skipping class, DON'T. The more that people skip, the more he gives out free points just for you showing up. The lab component was an easy A and the homework isn't hard.

you don't really have to buy the textbook because you rarely use it. all the homeworks and online quizzes can be cheated online. labs are easy and pop quizzes in class are give aways. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! i got back like 3 extra points and finished with a B even thought i failed two tests. he is enthusiastic yes, but sucks at explaining things.

If you have any math background (capable of doing high school algebra), then you have nothing to worry about for the tests. Its just that 75% of the tests are MC, so it can be tough trying to figure out what to remember. Extra credit is an easy way to get some points back, but he rewards creative projects that are artistic over scientific ones.

The tests are impossible. So hard. Didn't pass one. That being said, the labs are easy, and the homework is easy. If you do well on them and do the extra credit it really helps you out. Stan is a really nice guy. Always will help you out and is extremely passionate about the subject. Kind of a tough 100level science.

I really enjoyed this class! it far exceeded my expectations! There is a fair amount of homework but it does teach you fairly well and if you read the book you'll be set. The lectures were fairly helpful too. Stan really loves astronomy and you can tell just by talking to the guy. His enthusiasm starts to rub off, i recommend this class

He is enthusiastic about the material, but it is still difficult. It is not an easy A, the exams are tricky, but he gives you chances to succeed. I didn't do well on the exams, but didn't do badly on everything else. I finished with a B-, which was much better than I expected. I wouldn't say avoid, but be sure you know what you are getting into.

Dr. O was an amazing teacher. I went into astronomy with my doubts, but regardless of whether you like astronomy itself, he's the best teacher for the job. He really loves his work and really wants you to do well. The labs are a bit tricky, but overall, I highly recommend him.

Despite what some people say, if you don't have a good science or math background this class is challenging. He will bend over backwards to help you if you just ask though. Lots of homework but tests are manageable if you study.

Such a chill guy. Goes at a pace that everyone can keep up and everyone who goes to college should be able to succeed in this class. It's an added bonus if you are into Astronomy, but if you are looking for something more challenging, take a higher level astronomy with him.
