Comment:
Professor Bower wasn't as bad a professor as everyone made her out to be. She can be confusing and trip over her own explanations, but the material itself can be self-learned easily. There is no textbook, instead you read three novels and answer questions on them. Go to class, do your homework, and ask questions. You'll be fine

3 books you have to read over the semester. There are 3 lecture, book, and essay exams. Not hard if you do the work and understand everything which can be sometimes difficult in her class because you have to write down what she says and she sometimes goes quick. If you like to read shes good to take. She's fairly intersting.Class goes quick.

She teaches boring parts of history. I can have multiple pages of notes but they all say the same thing. she repeats herself alot. She is unorganized. not necessarily difficult but not easy. remember to "penetrate" her on interpretations.Avoid if possible but not end of the world.BORING she covers what happens before salem trials, not actual trials

Comment:
Bowers thinks she is teaching a 400 level class. The amount of info covered is far too much for the tests. She grades unfairly and your opinions are wrong. For those of you who say students who get a bad grade in her class are because they are lazy and unmotivated; I transferred to IUS with a 4.0. I didn't get that being lazy and unmotivated.

Don't take this class! She is a VERY hard teacher for only being a "100" level class. She rambles and doesn't get her point across. Ridiculous amount of reading and she doesn't show that she cares if you pass or not. Not a good teacher at all.

Don't ever take this teacher. She requires a ridiculous amount of reading. She is very confusing and doesn't explain anything well. She doesn't seem to even understand hat she's talking about. When asked a question in class she will repeat the same thing she just said to cause the question to be asked in the first place. Stay away!

Dr. Bower is a very nice lady, but she is one of the most confusing professors I have ever had in my college career. She tells you she wants your insight to the readings, but then when you give them to her they are wrong. All I can say is stay away if you can.

I thought Dr. Bower was great. Intro level Latin American history course was very informative and interesting. Of course the lazy, unmotivated students hated her and got C's and D's. I received an A by simply showing up, reading the text, and participating in class. Wait, that is how I get A's in all my classes.

Dr. Bower is one of the most confusing teachers I have ever had. She will tell you one thing for the pretest and you but that and she says its wrong and then will tell you what she wants and its excatly what you put. The way her class is step up is confusing. I will give her that she knows what she is teaching but she doesn't know how to teach.

Her syllabus is impossible to understand as is her grading system. can earn "extra" points but they don't count toward final grade. i missed a grand total of 5 (not counting the many extra points i earned) and got an A-. 0.3 off my gpa because of an ambiguous grading system. Has been "teaching" since 1968.

OMG. This woman is terrible. Her teaching skills are non-existant, and she isnt much of a help if you have questions. You are never going to be right, and you cannot trust your correct answers on her pre-tests to be correct on the post-test. She is a very subjective grader. Really, how can one's interpretation of facts be wrong?

Dr. Bower would tell us to do one thing then say it was all wrong, especially our papers. Her book discussions were like torture. No matter what every ones comments were way off the mark. No one was ever right no matter how in sightful their take on the readings were! After class everyone would be saying out in the hall, "What was that all about?"
