She is a little of a hard grader but it really helps if you go to her office hours. She really cares about the students and she tries her best to talk to everyone individually. She can be really sweet but annoying to non English majors. I would recommend her just be careful going against her opinions.

She is so dumb. I just started her class and she is so unorganized and has overpowering personality. She did not tell us if there were any assignments due next class and didnt have a syllabus. She emails us the day before and expected us to read an entire chapter in one day. The reading is fine, but she sprung it on us last minute. Bad Instructor

Best english teacher EVER. She gave made us work for the grade but did not give us too much work. The papers were few and far between, but with that she expected quality work. Love her spunk, however you kind of have to agree with her to get the grade you want, or at least be a fantastic writer.

She does not grade easy. She is not the professor I expected. I put in a good effort and ended up getting C+/B- Grades. Very harsh at grading. I dislike this professor because she was far behind and did not really engage the students with her worksheets. She was boring too.

Prof. Kay is extremely liberal. I am just warning you. She brings politics and activism into mostly every discussion. Do not debate topics with her unless you are knowledgable of the subject because she will prove you wrong. She is a great professor, probably one of the best English teachers at UCR. If you need help with your writing, she is there.

She was a very cool teacher. I loved her class. I was very lucky to have her. Very helpful. She opened my mind up, politically, inspired me to be politically aware. Only did 2-3 essays, I believe. Never argue with her!! Just accept whatever she says because she will always counter what you say or think is right. Not that easy of a grader. I was expecting at least an A- in her class, went to a couple office hours, ended up with B's on all essays as well as overall grade. currently getting A- in my Eng1B class rite now.
