I've noticed many negative reviews about Professor Brown however the man knows his stuff. He is definitely a Professor that'll help improve your writing whether you like to believe it or not. Is he arrogant? Sure but if you're not passionate about English take someone who'll give you an easy A. This man is not for the weak, sorry not sorry.

Professor Brown can be arrogant and he does love to hear himself talk, but the man is absolutely brilliant. He knows what he's talking about and it is clear that he is passionate about the subject. His class is a must for any English major - the class discussions are great and very thought provoking. I hope to take classes with him again.

I recommend taking any other professor. He can be very rude to his students. He treats the class as if it is a 400 level class. He does give extra credit but he is very picky about it. If you do have to take a class with him don't take it lightly, pay attention, try not to miss classes, and take LOTS of notes

He's a great professor. If you have a chance to request him as your adviser, do so. He's the only competent and reliable adviser I've ever had.

I am not an english major, and was taking this class as a gen ed. This was the most miserable class of my college career so far, and I would not recommend, unless you are ONLY studying english and literature. Very harsh, very demeaning, and very arrogant. LOVES to put students down and belittle us with no second thought. Awful experience

Great learning experience: fair amount of reading, engaging lecture style, stable, always on track, very respectful towards students comments, democratic classroom experience, gave me understanding of literature through time: how it shaped society and literature; & made connections between lit examples which give flow & structure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Prof. Brown is not an easy teacher; he's very honest and told the class he does not believe in giving A's. With that said, he is also very fair. He has a lot to say and proves to be very intelligent. He's intriguing and is inspired my love for British Literature. He's extremely helpful, if you need help he is always willing to assist.

Least favorite professor I have ever had the pleasure of taking. His attitude made me cringe in my seat. Admittedly an intelligent man but seems clouded by his own ego and idea of what a student should be.

Worst English professor ever! Even if you have a valid excuse, he will not excuse your absence. Thinks highly of himself. Loves to hear himself talk. Not helpful at all and a very hard grader. Do not take this professor ever, not a pleasant class.

If you want to learn the techniques needed to excel as an english major, take Prof. Brown's class. He does not just hand out high grades, but If you show that you're trying to grasp the material, he is very fair. With that said, you will have to earn your grade, but you will leave his class with so much knowledge and understanding of literature.

He's borrrrrrrrrrrrrring. So pretentious its not even funny, and a really tough grader. Don't even bother joining in the discussion in his class, as its barely welcome, and he'll never admit you have the right answer.

Realizing negative comments are often dismissed here's the list. He's egotistical, he's conceited, he's convinced that mere-transfer students are both incapable of having read literature and incapable of having learned anything he has to teach them from it if they have. Hand everything in. Don't participate unless prompted. Avoid opinions.

He is so smart that I just want to take every required class with him. He has taught me so much. He is a really tough grader, so if you're maintaining a high GPA...beware. He cares about his students and he will compromise with you if needed. Very understanding man. He does most of the talking but will listen; all you have to do is raise your hand.

He is very helpful and works with students when they have their own situations going on. He gives extensions if needed and you make prior arrangements. I loved being in his class and just wish I didn't have as much going on in my life where I could pay attn. more but he understood and I loved that. 3papers,1final& surprise quizzes on readings too.

I like him. If you go to class and pay attention and are prepared for class you will do fine. Recommend taking once a week class. You get it all done in one day and you have all week to prepare. Professor Brown is very knowledgeable. Good guy and class is reasonable.
