I have taken Stephen Donahue's class twice so far at my time here at Rock Valley College. He is a very kind and reasonable and patient man. He is incredibly smart and professional. He is a man of respect and true character. He is strict as far as grading goes. It is not the easiest class to pass, but I enjoyed working with him as my professor.

Comment:

Professor Donahue's class is a lot of group work that is honestly not needed nor helpful for the class. He himself is a very nice teacher. There are Journal entries he does that as long as you do them you will always get all points for them. He grades well in my opinion. I'm not sure he knows what a joke is lol but he did try to make one once!

Dr. Donahue is a Professor that will push you to be a better writer. I actually hated that part of this class lol. When you show up for class you'll seldom get to work on your drafts, instead you'll do workshops and activities to boost your writing skills. Also, don't plan to turn in papers late or you'll lose points.

Professor Donahue is an awful grader -- I missed points for how I titled my refernce page... 10% off your final grade for every class period you miss, even if you have a valid excuse such as a field trip (with RVC I want to add). The entire class period will be group work. Honestly one of the worst professors I've had at RVC.

Professor Donahue is such a sweet man but the essays your assigned have to be really well written. He doesn't really grade on how interesting your essay topic is but on the grammar and punctuation. so If you pay close attention and show up everyday you'll fine. I actually learned a lot in his classes and I'm not a very good writer.

The majority of the class is writing papers on the two books that you read. I got A's on all of my paper, I found it easy. There is a writing center appointment that is mandatory. The portfolio is worth 400 points, if you don't do it you will fail. overall an easy class. He's very unclear. Wouldn't recommend him to a future student.

He is really strict and a very harsh grader. If you miss a class, and try to catch up on what you miss, he simply won't let you. He is nice, but calls on you all the time even though it's clear you don't know the answer. I had a D,even though he helped me with the papers and I went to the writing centers. DON'T TAKE HIM, HE IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!!

He is a harsh grader. But i was honestly glade i took him. He told me what to fix and work on for the next paper and i think i took a lot from him v.s. other English teachers I've ever had. You do need to attend and participate to show you wanna pass. Overall i would recommend him if you wanna learn something.

I took him and turned in all of my papers and everything and he gave me a horrible grade he said i did not attend enough but i told him i had a wife and hockey games and practice to attend to. i do not recommend him at all.

This teacher is absolutely awful, atleast for eng 99, DO NOT CHOSE, He grades really harshly on the smallest things, sometimes i believe he doesn't even look at your paper, if you're also gone for more than 3 days for whatever reason, you lose your participation. On top of it all, even if you get help from him, he'll still give you a bad grade.

Terrible teacher! VERY boring, and a VERY difficult grader, it is impossible to get more than a C! He marks off oints for stupid things and makes you do stupid little discussions that no one participates in like highschool!

Do not take this professor! Like others said he acts like its his way of writing/speaking in class or theres no way at all. I really enjoyed his class. He made us read and write a lot. If you like yo write then he is the teacher for you, but its fairly easy since he just made us write how we are connected to the books he has us read. Its very interesting. He really is nice. Some may complain, but in my opinion I wish I could take his class again.

This class is very intense with lots of reading, several papers & journals due and mandatory attendance. I learned ALOT but it almost killed me, especially the final. If you have an interest in Lit, he is the teacher for you, just read the stories. Really nice guy but is very by the book, be prepared to work for your A!
