If you like professors who wear overalls and still think they're better than you, then you should definitely take Dr. Ellis's class. Lecture heavy class even though slides and notes don't help much. Bright side of the class was that the readings were pretty interesting.

Boring Lecture with often closed-minded comments. Pop quizzes are given in the lecture, but no real material is covered. The material is straight from the book and could be read on your own time.

Super boring class. So easy to fall asleep in the lectures. Gives pop quiz assignments so make sure you go to the lectures. But the lectures are very confusing. His powerpoint are abbreviated so you'll look back at your notes and have no idea what he is talking about.

Worst class of Freshman year. His study guides only cover essay questions, not the other half of the test. Very very very boring lectures. Wouldn't recommend.

All you do is show up to lectures & go to discussion every week where you'll be given a quiz. Lecture does not have mandatory attendance, but he's given two quizzes during lecture that was supposed to be the discussion quiz for the week... now everyone actually goes to lecture. discussion class makes the material easier to understand

This class was somewhat enjoyable. The Hausman & McPherson textbook was really really dry and boring. Dr. Ellis did a good job of making the class think outside the box. The class was very abstract and subjective, which I guess is the point of philosophy. This class wasn't about the difference between right and wrong, but how to figure that out.

This man is brilliant. I loved the class and found it fascinating. But make no mistake it is not an easy course. You have to pay close attention during lecture because his power points are just outlines and the exams are very hard. Still, he is a great teacher and I would take another class from him.

Overall the teacher isnt a bad guy, its the cirriculum that is poorly taught. The teacher often goes off topic and the power point notes are terrible, each word seems to be abreviated. If i had a dollar for every time i fell asleep or got confused in this class i could pay my tuition. The class is aweful and the exams are unclear.

Good teacher. Interested in what he's teaching.. Gives helpful essay prompts to study and then chooses one of the six(ish) prompts for the actual essay on the test. Have to apply yourself to get an A, but it is possible if you attend class, take notes and actively prepare for each test. I recommend him because he loves what he does.

Rambles and goes off subject often, but very encouraging of class discussion and active thinking. Tests are moderately difficult and while attendance isn't mandatory, it might as well be due to random pop quizzes.

Pay attention and take part in discussions in the class. He's a fun teacher that helps out quite a bit. Be very thorough and extensive when answering questions on assignments or you will be counted off dramatically.

This man is annoying and arrogant. Like someone else said, he teaches you his opinion and will disagree with yours. He is condescending and unclear. I love philosophy, but I sincerely regret taking him for this class.

I hate this man!! Each exam has an essay, and he is unclear about what he wants you to write. He teaches his opinion and if you disagree, you don't get a good grade. I had to force myself to go to this class, and i regret taking it every day. Students Beware!!

His class isn't a cake walk, but if you do the reading and pay attention in class you'll do fine. He's a fun guy (although he likes KU) and he will help you alot if you go to office hours (e.g. term paper help)

The first day of class he complained that there were too many people in his class so he gave us an hour long lecture on why we should NOT take his class. I was one of the few that stayed and I still regret it! He is an awful, awful man!
