Previous Calc knowledge helps A LOT. 8AM Calc is never good, and Hilbert can make you fall asleep. He really tries, but you can get lost quickly. Daily homework, quiz every Thursday, evening prelims, and 2 group projects. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll be lost if you skip. Office hours are very helpful. ADVICE: Prepare yourself.

He explains things fairly well, but gives you way more work than necessary. Daily and weekly homeworks are all collected and you have to print out everything for yourself. Also, he makes you write an essay for linear algebra.. a math class! ridiculous.

Know that Steve is the most fair and willing to help teacher. His quizzes and tests are very fair. His projects are challenging but valuable. I would suggest taking Steve!

Prof. Hilbert is a personable and knowledgeable man, but his instruction is severely lacking. He means well, but he doesn't actually "teach" the material; he hints and expects one to figure it out for oneself. This method would be acceptable in an upper-level course, but in Calculus 2, it's detrimental to learning. Hilbert: great guy, bad teacher.

Hilbert is a cool old man.I rarely come to class, just read book at home. But whenever I come to ask question(usually not during his office hour), he definitely helps you out until you are clear about the material. Althought he appears to be a tough professor as well as his course,i recommend to all
