God bless Herr Hollender. He acknowledges that German is hard to learn, and is genuinely delighted to help. Highlights of the semester include hosting a dinner at his own home for his students and doing an extra help hour for finals despite losing his voice. Hilarious & friendly, makes German a great experience

Fairly nice guy, awful teaching style. Expects you to teach yourself German at home and he'll review in class. LOTS OF HOMEWORK. VERY DISORGANIZED. Gives the same lecture that "NOW IS THE TIME" and that your should be overjoyed to be learning German. He's not unattractive, but he's not chili pepper hot.

Herr Hollender does a very good job of keeping class interesting. He is extremely knowledgeable about German and many other things. Learning a language is never easy, but he makes it manageable. He does assign a lot of reading though

Prof. Hollender is an alright teacher. But he gives homework every night and a lot of it. Helpful, but completely disorganized. You'll see why he doesn't have many people in his classes.Don't recommend him.

Herr Hollender is the most fantastic professor I've encountered at B-W. The class is usually pretty high energy, and can be quite funny. If you want to take a language, TAKE GER 101 & 102 with Hollender, you will not regret it!

Hollender is great. It's pretty much just that simple. He makes German fun, and always has an interesting story or two to tell if he senses boredom. On the downside, he's a bit disorganized, but that's more his problem than the students'. He's easy to approach and get along with, is always willing ot help, etc. Exams are hard, but so is German.

I had Dr. Hollender for 15 classes at BW, studied abroad with him twice, and did two carmel programs with him. We had many squabbles along the way, but he helped me take my german to a new level. Beware of his office, once you go in you may stay an extra hour just talking. Esp great @ teaching Civ
