Textbook was not used except for maybe a few pages...don't buy it. His tests are simple however each quiz is based of one example he goes over in class sometimes. If asked a question after he made me feel dumb for not knowing...professors should not discourage learning and asking questions.

AWESOME! Loved his class. He is hilarious and jokes around all the time. He is extremely helpful and very nice when you run into him. Structural is a damn hard class, especially when visual is not your learning style. Would definitely recommend taking a class with him.

Class was interesting enough, liked his teaching and his style, but his Final i thought was ridiculous, focused on general concepts and dates when alot of specific material was presented to us that was not examined at all! Did not give a very good idea of what was going to be on the Final. Might be better in a different class

Steve has a really off the cuff style that I really liked. Basically he starts doing the material day one and gets you to do it at the same time. Works for some, maybe not all. Structural is a hard course, so DON'T GET BEHIND, first few weeks are crucial. Plus you should be prepared to do some looking up of terms and concepts on your own.

Awesome teacher - really explains all the concepts well. Very interesting sense of humor but it's always fun to be in his class. Just don't get him going about APEGBC! Tests are very fair and his expectations of you are high, but they're very realistic!

The lecture and lab always gave me a headache! If down plunge profiles aren't intuitive to you, you'll have to cram a lot before tests. Steve wants you to prove that you understand what you're doing and haven't just memorized the method, so exam questions usually have twists to make them different from the notes. Thumbs up to rock of the week!

Structural geology ain;t an easy class and STJ doesn't make much effort to make it easier or even very clear. He comes across as being very arrogant-especially towards women in his class.He seems almost indifferent to students, very frustrating.

An OK instructor. Nice, funny guy. Materials are all over the place sometimes. Doesn't follow syllabus for half of the term. His handwriting stinks. Rock of the day and satellite picture of the day are great.
