She does not take flack in the classroom like sleeping or cellphones going off. Otherwise she is always willing to take questions, though she does move from topic to topic pretty quickly without them. Be ready to take notes from her lectures. Comment:

Though Shannon grew on me after taking a few classes with her, dealing with her was one of the most challenging experiences I've had with a professor. Though she is humorous (and is successful at times), without any previous interaction it can be disrespectful or just jarring. But if you get her on your side, she will fight for you like no other.

Shannon is an excellent professor. Her classes are lecture based, which may be difficult for some. The workload is relatively light, composed mostly of readings and studying for exams. As long as you study and work hard you will receive a good grade. She really knows her stuff. Not to mention she is totally funny in a really wry way.

Shannon was my FYI professor and while yes, she expects a lot and can be hard to keep up with, she makes her expectaions and intentions clear from the start. As a person she's a lot of fun, and I've found I can always go to her for help when I need it. She's a great resource to have, especially as a freshman

This professor was awful! She was condescending, rude, and picks favorites. Her criticism is not constructive but is often phrased in the form of a personal attack. She was overall unprofessional and her appointment for tenure truly disappointed me. If you are one of her chosen pets life is good but fall out of her good graces and your life is hell

Took Archy/Prehistory, Archy Lab Techniques, and Archy Tech&Theory with Shannon. She is a HARD grader, but it's not a trick: she explains how to study for her classes on the first day. Shannon's lectures are excellent. Very specific, and always covers topics that are on the tests. As long as you're in class, take good notes, and study these notes A LOT, you'll do great. I recommend that you start studying for each quiz about a week in advance, as she covers a lot of material in each section she covers.

Lecture class with a great deal of information. You must take notes quickly to keep up! Her quizzes and tests are challenging because of the vast, unpredictable range of possible questions. I found her class sometimes boring, although she herself has a likable personality.

I was terrified on my first day of class b/c I was a Freshman and I'd never taken a college-level lecture course before. Then in comes Shannon, hopped up on caffeine, sits on the front table and kicks off her shoes. The woman is amazing. I love archaeology b/c of her!
