Dr. Lawson is the one to take for theory--he has multiple explanations for different concepts, will help you as much as he can, and is a fairly easy grader. Can be funny and laugh at himself and has a good time in theory. Aural skills can be tedious and repetitive. Show up, do what you're supposed to, and you'll pass.

i don't see why everyone dislikes dr. lawson. he's a decent conductor and he's pretty funny. he subtly makes fun of people, but i don't think he means anything by it, he's just being funny. he's a good conductor! he makes it fun and makes you want to practice so you don't sound stupid.

The worst conductor I have ever played under, including middle school, high school etc. How can he teach it if he can't conduct himself. Everything I have had him in: Wind Symphony, Conducting, Music Technology has been a joke.

Needs to work on timing a lot, seems to slow down the last beat of every measure. He needs to push people to practice individually. I know it's a college ensemble, and people should know that, but it's obvious that it's not happening.
