He gives you two extra credit papers. There are no tests, but there is a really big group project that accounts for most of your grade, but in groups of 10 or so and everybody I talked to got an A or A/B. 10 or so online quizzes, but get together with friends to do it and its a 100% every time. I would take this class again.

I am an education major with no interest in government, so the class was extremely boring for me, however, Dr. McDougal is so sweet and a really nice guy. All quizzes online and only one exam is mandatory and it is a take home. You have to write two long group papers but you get to pick the topic so it is actually interesting! I would recommend!

McDougal is good prof. Some of the topics he really flies through because he clearly understands what he's talking about. Attendance is not mandatory but it will help later when discussing in front of class for "small group projects". group projects are 1-3 people depending on class size reviewing an article. Reading is HW, Happy I took the class

It was a pretty easy class. The lectures seem very long and boring, but he swears and stuff so that makes it better. The midterms are papers and you don't have to do them they are extra credit. Quizzes are all online and have multiple chances. Have a group research project all class long. It is easy but he is not totally clear on what he wants.

All quizzes and tests are online. Two tests are optional and can be done for extra credit, but the final is mandatory. you have to write 3 papers but 2 of them are group papers. Lectures can be boring but he doesn't care if you are on computer or phone. Also every quiz has multiple attempts.

McDougal is super nice and a good guy. If you take POL 201 just know that you will get an "A" however there's a lot of time put in to the various online quizzes, 3 easy exams, and a few big projects. It's not difficult content but it's difficult to find motivation to get work done. About 90% of his lectures are irrelevant to his graded material...

There are multiple quizzes that you take online and have unlimited time. Two extra credit exams and one mandatory final exam-all easy. Lectures are very boring and he hacks a lot which can be gross. Easy grader if you actually try on the exams. Easy A with little effort. Definitely take him.

McDougal is terrible. His lectures are boring and the material is pointless. The entire class is pointless. His directions for the Sub-Field project are incredibly unclear and hard to understand. I will never take another class with him. Avoid if possible. He is a genuine jerk. If you want to learn political science take Dr. Bigel

McDougal is a nice professor - always willing to look over drafts of assignments. Exams are take home. Did not learn a whole lot from lecture he tends to get off topic and ramble on. Also, you will get an A/B on every assignment no matter how much time you put into it.

Extremely intelligent guy. If you're not interested in Poly Sci his lectures can be a bit boring, but I really enjoyed his class. He knows not everyone loves the topic so he makes the tests and papers rather easy with clear references. Always approachable/emailable/callable, very nice, and ALWAYS urges you to think on your own. Highly recommended.

lectures are so boring and pointless. he takes attendance but you could miss most classes and do well in the class. take home essay exams and online quizzes. this semester he experimented with adding a 35pg project. hopefully he got rid of that because it was 50 pages total for the semester and class didn't count as writing emphasis.

Good teacher! Extra Credit wasn't hard, it really helps your grade. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Went to him with outside of class questions and he always had helpful answers. Lecture was boring but still informative. Paper for final, optional extra credit mid-terms and no in class quizzes!
