I really enjoyed Dr. McNamee's class, I found him to be super interesting and always making class enjoyable. He kept my attention throughout class periods by adding in personal anecdotes to help make the information more easy to grasp and understand.

Worst professor/hardest class taken at UNCW. Professor talks so quietly you cannot hear him and he says the tests are straight forward if you study you'll get a good grade, but he always adds random questions that were never discussed in class or in text. Not to mention the tests are all essay tests and he takes points off for no reason DO NOT TAKE

This professor had lectures everyday of the class. While they were interesting and easy to follow, the information was barely on the tests. He only used the textbook to form questions and if you don't read you are screwed. However, he is super nice and understanding and if you like to read, write, and go to class you could definitely get an A.

Horrible class. You can barely hear him when he's teaching. There are not a lot of assignments/tests so every single thing you turn in matters. Lectures are so boring and it's hard to focus on what he's saying. The information he lectures about is super easy and seems like common sense but when it comes to the test it's completely different.

Cool guy and knows the subject well. You need to read the textbook and the additional readings he gives or you'll miss half the material on the tests. The only grades are 4 tests and 4 written assignements, the 4 assignments are easy (2-3 page paper) and act as another test grade. Tests can be hard, just need to read everythingand show up to class.

Boring lectures! Monotone... He is passionate about this topic but he can be confusing at times and makes questions for the tests very tricky in order to trip up those who didn't pay attention to details in his class. Takes attendance! Lectures do not cover everything on the exams so be sure to read and take good notes and online practice exams

Dr. McNamee makes it obvious that he loves what he does. He is always open to help and I would recommend his class. The lectures can be boring, but he always gets his points across and his tests are straight forward.

Dr. McNamee is a very sweet guy. I just don't think he is that great of a teacher. If you don't like reading then don't take his class. All of his test questions come from the book. Even if you read all of the material the tests are still pretty hard. The questions are worded weird and it's just not fun.

As long as you read the text and take lecture notes you will be fine. It can be boring sometimes but he gives you everthing on the test. There are only 4 tests in his class and no other outside assignments. I thought it was easy as long as you do the reading a notes! Good luck!

McNamee is difficult. Research is really where he needs to be. As someone else said, he means well, but it just doesn't come across that way when studying and reading the material gets you no more than an 80 on tests. More hands on learning would help, as well as study guides or sample questions/review prior to tests. I don't recommend him.

This class was impossible for me. Even after reading everything (which is tough! you MUST read) I wound up with 78-79 on tests & on the final paper even though I gave it my all, a B-. I don't know if he is a hard grader because he wrote the textbook used for the class, or what. Crazy laugh. Random yelling. Boring class. Hard grader. Don't take.

All essay exams. Very EASY essay exams if you read the material. Its one of those classes where knowing the grand scheme of things, overall concepts, will get you a C, but knowing even a little bit more in detail bumps you to an A.

this class can be super boring at times, but mcnamee tries to make it interesting with videos and such. he has the funniest laugh ever! tests are challenging but if you take good notes, study, and read the book you'll do fine. you pretty much have to read the book because half the test is straight from it. i recommend him though!

AWFUL. Classes are super boring; he is super boring. According to him, if you attend lecture and read the book, you'll get an A--NOT! His tests are extremely difficult. He told a classmate that he doesn't expect anyone other than a SOC Major to get above a "C". NOT COOL for basic studies class.
