Comment:
Stedman has dry humor and he tends to blutenly curse. He really made me furious when he announced that the Bible is wrong and people are just now realizing it. You DON'T diss the bible unless you are in a athiest group. He say what he wants, when he wants, and stops the class from saying anything. He don't care about his job.

His class is definitely a dictatorship. Unlike Burger King, make sure he has it his way. Dislikes students generally, unless you engage him with arguments he thinks are worthy of his intellect. You'll learn very little about literature, but he does a great job of preparing you for the real world with his callousness.

Spends all of his time bashing other students opinions. Although the class is fairly easy (you have to read and take quizzes over stories and write a paper for the final), he will frustrate you. I would take him for easiness.

He is a very interesting fellow. I took his class my first semester of my freshmen year, and he was easier than I expected a college professor to be. You have to read a pretty good amount of material, I probably read the book atleast every other day. Three tests, all essays. Like what the others say there are six written quizzes.

Dull, dry, and sexually frustrated pretty much sums him up. He's a good teacher, but the class is painfully boring. Sometimes he can be funny if you're a little more open minded, but if you don't like religious and political humor, then not so much. Overall, it's not that great, but it's doable.

Stedman is great at teaching and making up discussion questions. There is definitely a lot of reading to do in the course and there are quizzes and essays to write on each literary piece. He goes through each story and explains things very clearly to the class. He is very liberal.

He made world lit interesting. His class is fairly hard and he doesn't give much extra credit and there are a lot of essays, but overall a good class.

Read the material before it's due, show up to class (he does take daily attendance) and expect to do a lot of writing. There will be about 6 quizzes, which are simply 1 page essays over his topic of choice, a mid-term, an in-class essay, and a final. He's a hoot to listen to and all class comprises of is discussion. Speak up for extra credit!

Honestly, I have no clue what I just went through. Definitely read the assigned reading (I didnt).Go to class every day for extra credit. World lit isnt too interesting, but he tries his best to make it interesting which sometimes is unorthodox but funny. I would recommend him only because i dont know how other lit profs teach.

Just take notes, show up to class, and study the things he says you need to know for the essays. Quizzes are easy if you read the sections. He makes you think...yes, he may bash religion and his opinions may be a little twisted, but listen and learn from what he says to defend and come up with reasons why you believe what you do.

I thoroughly enjoyed his class. Most dont like him because he tries really hard to make the students think for themselves and to try to see how and why others think and feel the way they do. It was a nice cross between world lit and philosophy class. I wish I could take him for another class.

Stedman stated that 99% of the class had to take it bc it was a requirement. He pulled parts of stories from the text and used it from a real-life standpoint. He wanted others to forget their preconceived notions and open their eyes to other possibilities. I mean, who will remember the literature 10 years from now anyways? I got alot out of it.

I had Dr. Stedman for Professional Communications, he was a very good teacher. If you go to him for help and ask him what you need to do to get better grades, he will help you out. Overall, I have enjoyed him more than any other teacher in the English department. You definitely have to put forth effort in his class to make an A though.

Dr. Stedman is an interesting fellow. He seems to be more intersted in a philosophical approach to literature than analytical. If you hold conservative and especially Christian values, be prepared to listen to some not-so-subtle bashing. There is a quiz on most reading assignments, but if you enjoy reading that should not be a problem.

He is not very clear on his material. He'll wonder off the topic and talk about such things as selling crack to your mother or how his grandmother cremated his grandfather. It's a fun class just because you get to hear crazy stories. If you can read well and take notes by yourself OUTSIDE OF CLASS, then you can pass this class easily.

Intelligent and good critical thinker but totally off base on most subjects. Doesn't realize that obscenity and vulgarity are signs of lower intelligence. Does nothing but attack the values of Christianity most of the class. Doesn't really care when he can't prove you wrong, just indifferent.
