DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! Everything in the textbook was covered by the lecture slides. His accent was a bit difficult sometimes, but he was helpful because if he noticed people weren't understanding the content he was lecturing he would cover it over multiple days. Also, the tests were very straightforward. Definitely recommend!

Guy has an accent and lecture isn't anything terribly memorable/necessary. He reuses questions from past exams, so keep that in mind. Easy grading scale. Two midterms, final, and paper - discussion not required. A decent intro to econ course. He's a nice guy, not the best lecturer. Easy A if you know econ or are willing to pay some attention.

Basically got an F for i-clicker grade, but did well on the midterm, paper, and final so I ended up with an A. I read the book and there were a couple questions pulled from book, but I think you can still get an A without knowing those details. Study practice exams, lecture notes. His accent wasn't that bad.

He's alright. If you screw up on the midterms, it's fine because a majority of your grade is from the iClicker, Short paper, and final. The topics were not that bad, and you do not need the book. It's an easy A if you do the practice exams and remember what goes on during lecture. I got a B when I felt like I should have gotten a C.

Not a great lecturer. he has an accent and keeps using annoying words like "weeell"His tests sometimes have trivial questions. His paper at the end of the class is ok.

This is the worst lecturer and most disappointing class I've had so far at UCI. The course is named "Global Economy", but it actually isn't much about that (so I feel cheated). Moreover, I can hardly understand what this guy is talking, so I've learned very little from this class.

This class is such a joke. Lecture is mandatory since he asks iclicker questions, but they're easy. Two midterms, a final, and an 1800 word paper. Study the practice midterms and final and you'll get an A. He reuses questions from previous tests. Don't bother buying the book. I never opened it once and still got an A. Easiest and most boring class

Exams are extremely similar to practice exams, some questions even taken directly from the practice exams. Take good notes, sit closer to the front (his accent may be hard to understand at times) and you should be fine. 2 midterms, 1 final. Again, memorize the sample exams! Class is heavily curved at the end.

Took this class last quarter and was stressed the whole time! Go to your sections, they're a lot more helpful! He's a nice professor, but class didn't really help. I failed both midterms, was about to drop the class but I went into the final having completely dissected the midterm practices AND the actual midterms; those were my ticket for a B+ !

Attending lectures will help with the success in this course. Remember a lot of random facts, but don't be discouraged if you do poorly on the midterms. Even with a 27/40 and 28/40 on the midterms I still got an A-. Be sure to really do the practice midterms!

Pretty straight forward class, I do not know what the person below me is talking about. Online book was like 30 dollars and you NEED it. Sample midterms/ final are basically the same structure as the ones in class. His grading scale is pretty easy. Get 32/40 on everything and that's an A- or A.

He is boring. His test are HARD! I am usually an A student and I probably will come out of this class with a C. You need to read the book, do not buy it online... WASTE OF MONEY! Langson has a copy. Also review his old midterms cause alot of the questions are from there. Going to lecture is not needed.

I would definitely avoid taking Econ 13 with Professor Skaperdas. Even though the subject matter is easy, his tests are ridiculous. I am good at econ and study a lot, but I can't seem to get past 78% on each midterm! He adds in a whole bunch of trivial questions (which he NEVER mentions in class). Ridiculous.

This class is a joke. I'm a psych major (no econ experience) and I'm literally dying of boredom. Also, he really likes fish and coconuts, not to mention Robinson and Xena. READ THE BOOK.

This is the first class I took in UCI since I transferred, and honestly it's an easy class. I ended up with B+ even though I barely attended the lectures. You don't learn much in this class, though. Just review the practice midterms thoroughly. Had to write a 5 pg long paper, which I got a D. Other than that, tests are super easy for Econ majors.

I just started i.s. major and this is my first econ class honestly it's NOT HARD to ace his class or pass it. I think these reviews are exaggerated because he uses recycled questions though I don't think he did a good job explaining concepts. Be sure to actually go through the book thoroughly because book explains concepts better. Also good tas help

Don't let some of the ratings deter you from taking this guy's econ 13 class. Likely, everyone who says this guy is a bad professor is not an econ major. If you are an econ major this class is a joke. Tests mimic the practice exams. Easy gpa booster for econ majors!

Not a bad professor at all. Yes, there are some questions on the tests that he absolutely does not cover, but not enough for you to do badly. His past exams are very helpful; he recycles many of the questions. He is also quite into explaining thoeries in terms of fish and coconuts. I'm neither an econ nor int'l studies major and I aced this class.

The material itself is not bad..but the exams are just downright outrageous. Not only does he give you not enough time, he sticks stuff in there that has nothing to do with lecture or study guides... My class average this quarter was a C-. Yeah, if you are good at econ you'll get a good grade but expecting you to be psychic is overboard.
