Comment:

I took Bloom for French Fairytales and she did really well with the course! Your grade is composed of strong participation from class discussion along with 2 mini presentations and 3 papers, 3pg length. I am not sure when this topic will be taught again but I would recommend this prof as well as the course content! Good relaxer for French majors!

Comment:

For a grammar/comp class (boring content), Dr. Bloom did her best to liven up the class. I think she went too easy on us, PP slides emailed, grammar explained to the T. Normally you'd have to come 100% prepared. Compositions are not bad, even if you mess up the first draft, you can make up for it. 8 quizzes/tests, not too much pressure.

Bloom makes most of her assignments clear. But I don't really like her, her lectures are pretty dry and her grading is sometimes arbitrary (which is strange since her guidelines are pretty clear). I would not take her again there are much better profs in French who are much less two faced. Only take her if you don't have better options.

I've taken 3 classes with Madame Bloom and she's the best. You definitely have to go to class and participate, but she makes it really easy to understand what she wants and to get an A. If you speak French well, you'll be fine.

Of the 3 classes I've taken with her, this was definitely the worst. A lot of reading and not an easy A, but it probably would have been a lot worse with someone else. If you have to take it, take it with her. If you don't, avoid it.

I had mixed feelings coming out of this class. She is pretty nice if you get to know her. She gives the questions for the test before hand, but since she does she expects thorough essay answers on her tests. Not an easy A but it wasn't too bad. Some homework (reading). Important subject matter to learn (IMO) if you are a french major.

Extremely boring class. She's kind of all over the place and a bit rude at times. Needless to say, I will not be taking another class with this professor. She did not advance my French capabilities whatsoever. If you really want to learn, take a class with Madame Seailles or Madame Blum. Skip France Through the Ages.

She is a really tough grader. She explains the works really well, but her rubrics are out of whack. She has extremely specific expectations for essays and tests, which doesn't make sense for a literature course (in my opinion). I loved the material, but open discussion of the material was almost discouraged because of her specific expectations.

I have had this professor twice now and strongly recommend her. After taking her classes, you will see literature a new way. She is just so inspiring. The last time I had her, she was a hard grader all semester, but then surprised everyone with decent grades at the end. Don?t believe the myth that she always grades so hard.

This professor instills an incredible passion for French literature in every student. You walk in not caring and you walk out with a new passion. She is amazing! She comes from the Ivy League, so expects a lot and grades hard at first. But then she brings everyone's grades up at the end, so don't worry about her hard grading reputation.

In the beginning of the semester, I was really apprehensive about her because of some of the comments I read on ratemyprofessors, but it turned out that she's a really great professor. I learned so much. She's very nice and very intelligent. Her instructions are clear, and her grading is fair. I would definitely take another class from her. =)

Ok, I don't know why anyone says she is difficult. She literally gives you the exams beforehand so you can prepare your answers. You can even bring your tentative exam answers or papers to her to review. You don't really have to read everything she assigns because she goes over it in class. She does tend to grade on the harsh side.
