Comment:

Mr. Burket, while very nice and caring about the subject, was a tad hard to follow when he lectured. I, among many other students in my class, found that the things he lectured about weren't on the reviews for the test. The review questions weren't all on the test either and a lot of questions on the test were not lectured or stressed in any way.

Gives reviews, so do them! But he really can pull some stuff right out of thin air. No homework. Just tests, which is good if you know what you're doing and study.

He's very nice and a tad boring, but I've learned a lot from him. I took him for Fed and TX gov in honors college and got As. He doesn't give assignments just tests 60 objective and a take home essay (which he grades very generously) I would recomend him.

Mr. Burket is one of the most knowledgeable professors I know at TJC. Nearly everything he says in class is important, so keep your notebook handy. Yes, you'll have to work hard. He won't take slackers; however, he's very helpful. I highly recommend him to anyone who'd actually like to learn.

I had the hardest time staying awake. I usually dont fall asleep in classes but this was an exception. I tried but usually nodded off. He knows his material but did not keep my attention. It was real hard to follow him! If you have him. Drink an energy drink or coffee before class and TRY to follow. Do your reviews they are great help.

Im sure if I had any interest in government, then I would have done better in this class. Tests are very hard and I thought they were hard to study for. When I asked questions, he did not really answer them. Very confusing and very boring- hard not to day dream or doze off. Take notes and read book pages before going to class.

I found Mr. Burket to be a very affable man with an extraordinary knowledge of his subject. I really enjoy the class conversational style of his class, and I find his sense of humor quite funny. The subject is knowledge intensive, so you definitely have to read the text. Go see the tons of clocks in his office, its pretty interesting.

He is a very knowledgeable teacher. I've never met a person that knows that much about the law and govt. However, his class was the most boring class I have ever taken. I made an A but will not take his class again. Tests are tough, you HAVE to read the book and study the reviews.

it was really hard to understand him. He speaks really slow, and doesn't keep your attention. There were several times during the semester when you would look around the room and everyone was sleeping or texting. State government was very boring with Burket.

He is knowledgeable and approachable. Very fair, will answer any questions you have. If you attend class, take notes, and read book, you will pass! Extra credit is EASY/very generous! He greets class with a smile and positive attitude. His lectures can sometimes be boring. NOT a class for slackers! Essays are EASY! I would take his class again!

I've honestly never met someone that has so much knowledge about the government and the law. He can be a tad bit boring at times but I really did learn a lot of interesting stuff. You do need to study for the test, though. I would also recommend doing the reading that he assigns because a lot of the test questions come from the reading.

Very good proffessor. More knowledgable about his subject then any other teacher I've had. Class is all lecture, but is interesting, and he gives reviews for the test. I wouldn't take anyone else for Government.

I really hated this class...I took notes, paid attention to those boring lectures, and still made a "D". True, he hands out reviews, but they never really helped. Take someone else!!!!

One of the most intelligent professors I have ever had. He REALLY knows his material and the ways our system of government works. His lectures can be rather uninteresting, however. If you can maintain interest and take notes...there is a HUGE wealth of knowledge that can be learned from Burket. Group discussions and Activities are frequent, and he can keep you on your toes. Overall, though sometimes somewhat…bland...an excellent professor.

"Easiness" is relative. Take notes, you'll pass. Study, you'll pass. He's not a terrible guy, and he does know his stuff, but his lectures are very boring, and he does ridicule students if he thinks they just don't understand. Keep your mouth shut, take notes, study, pass. There's no reason to be friends with the guy.

If I had to do it over again I would have taken from someone else. He is very knowledgable, but lacks approachability. He definitely has his favorite students. If you aren't one of those: be prepared for him to make you feel like you're stupid when you ask a question in class.
