It's my senior year and I still needed to fill a science credit, I thought that if I took his online class it would fit into my schedule easily. It doesn't. There were alot of assignments to do and exams had to be taken in the geography department at a scheduled time. This class is really hard and he never responded to my emials ina timely way

Comment:

Great professor but the class material is a little overwhelming. It's a 100 level class so a LOT of material is presented and it gets pretty in depth. DeGoosh is very intelligent and extremely funny. Basically he lectures with slides and you take Hand Written notes. Exams are tough so study hard. Luckily, the final is only somewhat cumulative. A+

Not the easiest teacher, but very interesting and funny some days. Really good examples and ways to help you remember the material. I definitely enjoyed this class though lecture everyday seemed to drag on a little.

Professor DeGoosh is a very good teacher. If you have any problems or don't understand something, he is willing to help you until you understand. Attendance isn't taken, but SHOW UP FOR CLASS! If you start missing class, you will fail tests, being that they are lecture based. You will learn a lot and think much differently about Geography.

Best professor I had at NMU. I am not a Geo major or minor and I learned more from this class than any other class hands down..... The man knows his stuff, and deserves every bit og attention in class. Exams are not easy, they challenge you, but thats how you learn.

Great teacher who is always there to help if you ask. Class was pretty easy, but I think it was the way he taught it that made it so. He made lectures always interesting and had great stories to go along with them and always encouraged questions and discusion

DeGoosh is hard to characterize. He's kind of arrogant and sarcastic, cynical and negative. However, he teaches surprisingly well. It doesn't feel like he is covering much, because the class is not overly structured. The pace is slow, but I have learned more in his class than in most.

Dr. Degoosh is one of the best professors at NMU and certainly in the Geography department. He has expectations for his students yet is approachable and helpful if students are struggling. He is very informed in geography issues but also in many issues outside of hsi field. I would definetely take more classes with Steve!

Best class and teacher I've ever had! This man made me want to go into geography. The class is very very hard but you will learn more in one semester than in all four years of high school combined. Make sure you take notes and draw his pictures, don't skip class or he'll call you out.

Maybe it's because I'm not a morning person, or maybe it's the material, but this class is boring. He tries to be funny, which pretty much keeps everyone going, but all-in-all he's just an ok teacher. Harder class than you might think.

Very enthusiastic and has a great sense of humor. He encourages questions and some discussion even though it is a big lecture class. The tests can be hard, but he sets up study groups and encourages students to go to his office hours. Really seems to want to students to learn.

He has a funny sense of humor, and will play around with people a lot. This class went on field trips that were so helpful. He loves it if you bring up topics in class, relate them to other things we learned, or make observations. Difficult midterm! Let him know of an absence prior to class. Difficult grading on writing format and spelling.
