Professor Hays is absolutely wonderful! He's one of those people you know was just born to be a teacher -- he is incredibly knowledgable about his topics and you can tell he puts a lot of thought into everything. His wisdom is obvious and if you put in the effort, you will get a lot from his class.

Professor Hays is brilliant. The Difficult Dialogues course was my favorite class yet at OU. The class is difficult and requires a lot of reading and writing. But if you attend and are engaged in lecture and discussion, it is so rewarding. Not many classes give you this type of platform to express difficult ideas. I would absolutely recommend it.

Steve is an excellent professor and a great guy in general. I would highly suggest getting to know him beyond class. There is a lot of reading, but it is all pretty interesting. There is also a ton of writing. Be open to discussion and thinking and anyone can pass. Great class and excellent professor!

Steve was a super nice guy. I really enjoyed getting to know him and he knows just about anything and everything there is to know about anything Greek or Christianity based. He always looks out for you best interest and wants you to learn. There is a solid amount of reading and writing though. Most of it is interesting.

Professor Hays is my favorite professor thus far and this has been one of my favorite classes. However, this class is difficult and time consuming. Do not take this class if you're not prepared to do a fair amount of reading and writing. If you're prepared to do what's asked of you there is not reason you can't be successful.

I would suggest this class to a junior or senior. Seriously. It involves too much reading. Only take this if you are truly passionate about religion and whatnot, because it was so much work (for a 3 credit class). Ugh. I can't wait until it's over.

Steve is very intelligent and knows what he talking about, but he can be hard to follow some times. If you have a hard time talking to people don't take this class, and if you have a hard time disscusing your religious beliefs. Overall not that bad.

Steve is a fantastic professor with an understanding of/ability to teach the Greek language unlike any other. His instruction made learning Greek (a very elegant, but complex language) as easy as it possibly could be. It's not a subject one can learn passively, but an incredibly rewarding class to take and a great professor to have.

Steve is a good professor and knows what he is talking about, and gives great, insightful thoughts but this class requires a LOT of reading and a journal and blog entry every week for points.

Steve Hayes is the man. His class was the most fulfilling class I've taken in college so far. It's a lot of work but is totally worth it. He is very passionate and intelligent, and provides very intellectually stimulating class discussion. Take this class at some point in your college career, you won't regret it.

Professor Hays is tough. There is a lot of reading and he is not very clear on grading. But if you do the reading and understand the material, you should do just fine. If you really have an interest in learning, take his class. Avoid if you're looking for an easy A.

I have had Steve twice now and still enjoy his classes. While attendance is not mandatory, you get everything you need for the exams from the lecture so I highly recommend attending. The discussions are enthralling and he definitely knows his stuff. I have not had a class with him I have not enjoyed.

I love Steve Hays. the first hour is lecture and the second is discussion based which can be really interesting if your group isn't afraid to talk. i know a lot of people didn't do well on the tests, but they are just essays and if you keep up on the readings you are going to do atleast decent.

Prof. Hays is awesome! I have taken several classes with him and love them all. He is very intelligent, but not out to prove it to the world arrogantly. His tests are not too hard if you study, and his lectures are made very interesting for material that could sometimes be very dry. Be warned that there are a lot of readings, but it's worth it!

Very worthwhile class and Steve is one of the best professors I have had at OU. A decent amount of work, and class requires some real thinking, but exams are not all that difficult if you do the reading and attend lectures. Overall, a wonderful prof and course.

There is A LOT of reading which I understand, but sometimes it just seems like TOO much. And I hated the quizzes because even the questions I thought I knew turned out to be wrong. I liked the philisophical aspects of it reading Plato, etc., but I always tried to stay awake in class because it was just pure talking. And the test was very hard.
