He's really passionate about what he teaches, so that makes lectures a bit more interesting. There's a quiz on each unit, always open note. One big project throughout the semester, no homework aside from that (which isn't that difficult). All powerpoints are posted online so it's okay if you miss a few classes.

Professor Jaume is a really good professor. His lectures are very easy to understand, but he always posts them online if you miss class. You will have at least one quiz a week, but they are always open note.

Great basic geo professor, in a MWF class you will have two quizzes a week that are open notes and most of the time partner quizzes. Tests are easy - exactly like his quizzes but not open note. Lectures are kinda boring/scattered but for a basic geo class, take Jaume.

Would recommend - Jaume's class is pretty average. Lectures posted online, and quizzes 2/3 days a week (some partner, some individual). You can use your notes for quizzes and they are good for getting your grade up. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the more quizzes you miss the lower your grade will be. Tests are normally based off the quizzes.

I will say I was expecting Geology to be A LOT worse... but this class was still very hard for me. However, he is great about always being prepared. Every class had a slideshow which would later be posted online (that same day) and the same with the quizzes (solutions). There was a quiz everyday which in the end was a great grade booster.

Jaume is a good teacher. He's really passionate about Geology, it is his job, so he can get really into his lectures. If you go to class, take good notes, you wont need the book (all powerpoints on OAKS) and study, you'll d fine. Attendance is taken by a daily 5 question quiz (open notesvery easy) so go to class, take good notes and youll do fine

Uses powerpoints to teach and has weekly quizzes based on the powerpoints. You will never use the textbook. He's a great professor and I learned well from his way of teaching.

Dr. Jaume is nice but his intro geology course is a bit boring. He tends to approach it as if you were new to earth, making it a bit insulting to sit in class belaboring simple concepts and pointing out obvious facts. He needs to go into greater depth for the benefit of his students. He is nice though, grades fairly, and is helpful in the office.

Do not take natural hazards unless you like wasting your time being taught the same information you learned in 103. I didn't learn a thing, but only made a "B" in the course. The class is only out of 300 points, and he takes them for petty reasons. He also gave us a homework assignment that we had to translate from spanish. Don't do it.

Easy class when you put the effort in to studying. One section a week with a four question quiz at the end. You won't pass the quiz unless you study. 3 tests including the final. Final isn't cumulative. Don't bother buying the book you won't ever use it. The powerpoints are really helpful.

Can't stand him. Takes his class WAY too seriously, and thinks he's amazing. Takes attendance every day and multiple quizzes a week that are usually hard! Never uses the book and puts his power points on oaks. Sign your name on the attendance sheet and leave, bc you can teach yourself. He sucks.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. His quizzes are impossible and if you ask him for help he just treats you like you're stupid.

This guy is awful. The material seems easy enough but his tests and quizzes are ridiculously impossible. When you go to him for help, he just makes you feel stupid and does not help you. It's impossible to get full credit on his short answer questions, do not take him!! He's rude!

Strictly powerpoint. Weekly quizzes, 2 major tests and a cumulative final, 1-2 person project due at end of semester. Not a bad class, you do have to study, multiple choice can be tricky. Hard to get full credit for short answer. Grades more easily as semester reaches end, so dont get worried if you fail the first quiz. Take it, it's not bad!

If you're looking to fill your science requirement and are just wanting a midterm, a final, and a paper to make up for screwing one of those up...he's not your guy. 10 pt. weekly quizes that you study the whole chapter for 4 ?'s. 10pt group homeworks. 2 midterms. cumulative final.

While the subject of natural hazards is interesting, I would not suggest taking this course. There were four major homework assignments, three group presentations, and three exams. This is incredibly work intensive for a 200-level class. Also, I found the professor to be oftentimes rude and condescending with a very subjective grading system.

good teacher, esp for those who aren't much for science.. breaks down material into very understandable way.. quizzes are kinda difficult bc he can be pretty specific, but the exams aren't bad at all.. recommend him definitely; he's a good guy

Knows his stuff! Whacky sense of humor. 4 very detailed and labor intensive 2-week homework assignments, two midterms, 3 group presentations. Learned alot, but if I had known how time intensive the class was going to be, I would have thought twice about it.
