Bottom line, he wants you to EARN your grade; he teaches the class like he is talking to PHD students, which for an intro to Chemistry class is absurd. He does throw a few extra credit points, but nothing substantial. The test are pretty damn hard, I studied about 20 hours for each exam and averaged only a 75%. Tips for Final: Study early and pray.

I took CHEM1320 in the fall semester of 2017 and it's still the hardest class I've taken to this date. Keller goes a bit overboard with what is expected and teaches the class as if all his students are to major in Chemistry. It's a pity that I'm now a year removed from the class and I don't remember anything relevant or useful besides acronyms.

I took 2 years of chemistry in high school and I still struggled in this class. Keller is a nice guy, but a terrible professor. His lectures are all over the place and his exams are even worse. He isn't specific about what he's testing on, or even what he expects you to learn. If you need CHEM 1320, find a different professor.

Bruh I Thought I could handle this professor with a wicked bad reputation because I'm pretty smart. I was wrong. I struggled to get a C in this class and I spent 10 hours a week studying for this class. The exams are ridiculous and he does not do well to prepare you for them. He is a nice guy, however DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU NEED A GOOD GPA

Grading scale is somewhat reasonable but not enough to balance the difficulty of tests. Tests involve things never discussed in class or even on the online homework. Ridiculous difficulty for being a first chemistry class to many. If avoidable, please do

For tests study literally everything he has talked about in lectures. Be sure to do the Aleks and get good grades in lab to counter the low average test grades

You want to be on top of this class from the beginning. I suggest setting homework and exam goals ahead of time, forming a study group within the first week (for the labs), working ahead in the ALEKS objectives, and recording everything you do or learn in one easily accessible place. Online resources like Chegg and Khan academy are your friend.

Expects too much out of a basic level Chemistry class. He is a good guy just tends to expand topics in unnecessary ways that make it difficult on exams. A lot of topics aren't gone over in class so further study is necessary. Keller is willing to help as much as possible but, just because he will help you that doesn't mean you will understand it.

His class was very difficult, but if you buckle down, do the work, and ask from help from Keller and your TAs when you need it, you'll do fine in the class. His expectations are very clear from the beginning, and while his exams might make you cry, they're fairly graded.

Dr. Keller is a good guy and you can tell he really cares about what he teaches. He is an okay professor, but he doesn't really help much when it comes to how to study for the exams. My TA was much better in that regard. I wouldn't take his class again, but he is a really sweet, caring individual.

As a freshman registering for classes, no one warned me about Keller and it was a big mistake. No textbook readings so I had to learn everything outside of class. Average on tests are around 50%, so watch out if you're looking to keep your gpa or grades up for scholarships. The tests are extremely difficult, with material not from class.

He is a very smart and friendly man, but honestly has no idea how to teach a class. His notes and lecture are unorganized and just seem like a jumble of words. There will also be concepts on the tests that aren't covered in class or in homework which is rediculous.

Not as bad as people say, but you have to work for it for sure. If you struggle with the stuff, be honest with yourself and get help with concepts. For tests make sure you understand all the concepts and can explain why things work Becayse thats how the test will be. If youre a freshman whose never had to study, get ready for a change.

Dr. Keller is extremely nice and passionate about chemistry and his students. However, he is one of the worst teachers I have ever encountered. His teaching style is nonsensical and his tests are extremely difficult. Unless you understand chemistry on your own, don't take his class. I had to work extremely hard for a B.

For what is supposed to be a continuation of high school level Chemistry, this course was extremely hard. Class averages on exams were typically a in the 50-60% range, and the only curve was him setting the +/-. If you want to actually understand Chemistry and the concepts taught, take Ganley's course.

Professor Keller may have been my greatest professor I've ever had. His class was EXTREMELY challenging; so if you don't want to put in the work, it would be better to not take the class. However, he goes above and beyond to help his students and is absolutely brilliant. In short, visit him in office hours and go the extra mile.

100% the worst professor I have ever had! He does not respond to emails and he says he is open for office hours but when you go he does not answer your questions. The grading scale is confusing so I was never aware of my current grade! There is a ton of homework to do and it does not you learn the material, and there's no textbook! WORST CLASS EVER

Overall he is very passionate about his work, but he has awful examples for disscusion. Along with how he would speak, Keller mumbles to himself occasionally. Now it wouldn't be a big deal if his mumbles didn't apply to what the lecture is over, so we would miss needed information that was intended to be announced, not mumbled.

Keller is an extremely nice man; however, as a professor he is not very good at all. He makes himself accessible, but never clearly answers questions, or provides much help when asked for. His tests are extremely difficult, and often are NOTHING like the practice exams. Be smart and get a tutor from the start.
