Amazing professor. Take his core 151 if you want to know more about religions because he explained it really well, like how every sentence can be interpreted in many ways. Well designed class because it includes Quran, which serves as an interesting comparison to strictly "Western" religions. Final is a bit hard - 4 essays in 3 hours.

My religion advisor. Very well educated and open to student opinions. Makes material understandable and gives great feedback to student ideas. Very good guy and helped give me a chance to rewrite a paper with feedback that I did poorly one. Definitely will take classes with him again. Thanks Prof Kepnes

Professor Kepnes is very nice and knowledgeable, but soo scatterbrained. He's very unclear on his expectations, paper topics, and his planning is poor.

Comment:
At times material is hard to grasp, but if you do the readings prior to class, his discussion makes a lot more sense and you will benefit. Readings can be lengthy but not too many writing assignments and he is very understanding and helpful. Loves participation and personal opinion in reflection papers. Basically do the work and it'll pay off.

Sweet guy, always in a good mood and willing to help. However, his tests are extremely difficult and he assigns 10-20 books (not exaggerating) that he expects you to read all of. Do some of the reading and participate and you'll be fine.

Hes...ok. Do medium amounts of work and get a B. Hes the type of teacher that calls on you when he realizes you aren't paying attention. Boring subject in general, but I guess for the subject he's fine.

Professor Kepnes is really great, he's slightly silly but really makes the material interesting. Though it may seem like he wants you to read into every word of give text, it makes it so that you don't really have to read BEFORE class because he expalins everything. Doesn't give letter grades for paper, but numerical ones. Overall, would take again

Comment:
Prof. Kepnes is hysterical (although he doesn't try to be). He's a little scattered and he's very into reading deeply into the text and analyzing passages word for word but his class is fair and occasionally insightful once you figure out what he expects.

Always comes to class with a great attitude. Tries to make class lively. Loves giving essays. Midterm and final were three separate essays totaling 9-12 pages. Threw pizza party last day with prizes. Great professor but hard grader. Must know how to clearly convey ideas. Looks for depth and understanding in papers. Loves class discussions. Helpful

Kepnes is a pretty cool, a little geeky, but fun professor. He grades pretty rough until you figure out just what he wants, which is for u to analyze the words in a passage word for word, and also to latch on to something not discussed in class for your papers. It's a core, i didn't want to take it, but it was worth it with Kepnes.

Good professor, he's funny and down to earth. class is based mostly around discussion, and there are not too many papers or tests. you have to keep up with the reading, but if you do it'll pay off with a good class participaiton grade
