Best professor ever, too bad he's going to retire soon. Always tell funny stories in class and they are actually funny. Exams are hard, but this is accounting 322, exams shouldn't be easy, but he does send out study guide, so use it. He also writes down everything on the board, so it's very easy to take note.

If anyone knows how to teach, it's LaFave. He's a little on the strict side, but that doesn't stop him from telling funny stories in class which pertain to the material. ACC222 is slightly less difficult than 221, but both are pretty intensive classes. He makes the difficult and intimidating subject manner seem very manageable. Highly recommended.

Professor Lafave is the best instructor I have ever had. A bit strict, but that is consistent and predictable. No surprises. He knows the book back and forth. Be honest with him and up front and he will be helpful. This class is 100% on you, he will teach you everything you need to pass. Plus his stories are the best, at least two funny stories a day. His personal problems will not effect classes. He does not show "bad days". Consistent!

Comment:
Your grade is based entirely on 2 exams. Prof Lafave comes across as arrogant and condescending towards students at times but he will teach you the material in a way that is clear and easy to understand. It's too bad he has some personality issues because he is easily one of the most knowledgeable and capable accounting professors I have had.

Lafave is extremely fair in grading, and there are no surprises on tests. He fills in silences with quips and light conversation, which is a welcome relief from some of the powerpoint lectures! I have zero interest in the subject, but it was clear from day one what I was meant to learn in the course.

The class was Advanced Accounting, and LaFave was perfect...again. One exam was a little too hard to fit into one hour, but the curve reflected that which is why he is probably the best Accounting professors alive! He accounts for students' understanding and feels accountable.

I was bummed when I couldn't get Prof. LaFave for ACC 222. He teaches you the material that will be on the exam; no surprises. And his lectures are easy to follow and take notes on. Prof. LaFave is really personable and likes to ramble about funny stuff while people check their homework. I really enjoyed the class and learned alot from it.

The previously posting students must be from Augsburg, he is now teaching an Accounting course at the University of Minnesota and the class is much harder than described here. We also get no cheat sheets and the class is graded strictly on test scores, no quizzes or homework. This is probably to make it a weeder course for U of M students.

Accounting was not the best subject for me but he was helpful, had tutors and we got to use cheat sheets with formulas to help us on tests because lets face it, in the real world you don't memorize all those formulas!

He is awesome. Especially for an Accounting prof, as many of them lack personality. He is very nice and explains the lessons very well. He gives you a list to study for the tests. I definitely recommend him. Two Thumps up!

Very smart and nice guy but he likes to throw trick questions out on his test. Look for about Half the class with passing grades and half the class with failing ones on tests. He is always available for help but don't count on questions you study to be on the test atleast not without a little trick.
