Dr Payne did a great job. He took time to talk with you (even as a distance student) and was very responsive to questions and requests for help. His material is difficult, but satisfying once you learn it thoroughly. I actually took two classes with him and would easily have taken three. Sign up; he's awesome!

Comment:

Dr. Payne has been one of my favorite professors throughout MS. MIS course work. If you are looking for an easy class, he may not be for you. He is serious about the material and treats students like adults wanting to learn. I have learned the most is all of the classes that he has taught. Great professor!

dr. payne is the real deal, but you will learn a lot. i was terrified after my first "f" the first exam, but it reminded me you can't play in a class where the teacher won't give you credit for only "kinda knowing material". it's either know it or you repeat, which is what many students end up doing. Don't be one of them, always ask for help!

This is a crazy class! Dr. Payne throws you right into fire and its sink or swim. If you really keep your head into it though you will learn a LOT.

He expects his students to gain a true understanding of the material. You can't half-ass it with him. He also purposefully leaves things out because he wants you to figure things out for your own and learn to ask others (including himself) for help. Great teacher though. Taking him for another 2 classes.

Depending on the class, I had Telecomm and Database he is completely different type of teacher. For Telecom its straight out of the book memorization fairly simple tests. For Database you stop using the book after 3 weeks and eventually start a somewhat confusing project.

Great Instructor but the class does requires work outside of the class. He really knows his stuff and is willing to help out with any questions. The material may not be that exciting to non-computer types but he still manages to make it so that everyone learns. Enjoyed his class very much and wish he taught more of the classes I needed to take.

one of the best prof in the MIS department! i had him for database and telecom. the material he teaches is some of the most important and difficult but he does a fantastic job of helping us learn it and you'll be thankful you did! i would take every class with him if i could!

Professor Payne is one of my two all time favorite educators, this coming from a guy that hates 99% of them. He is extremely likeable and despite the boring nature of the subject he manages to keep it interesting. The subject itself is difficult, not the professor if you work hard you'll be fine.
