Dr. Gilbert was by far one of the best professors I have ever had. I am terrible at English, but I showed interested in his class and talked with him afterwards once or twice about my papers and got an A. Make sure you at least skim through the reading for the daily quizzes.

He's a very interesting teacher. Knows his English Literature very well and does a great job of explaining the more difficult pieces. Only two papers, but the daily quizzes (which for the most part are easy) means you have to show up to each class.

I really enjoyed this class. The tests were very fair. There were daily quizzes, which could be tricky, but only because some of the readings were very difficult. He does drop some of the quiz grades. We only had 2 papers; one 4-5 page annotated bibliography and one 5-6 page paper.

Very good instructor. He is a very friendly person if you get to know him, which makes the class more enjoyable. The only thing is he grades very critically, which helps you as a writer...just not your paper grade. Its good that he'll let you rewrite your papers. P.S. don't try to bring up the North-South Issue (New Yorker)

He really sticks to the books and has a quiz pretty much every class, they arnt too hard though. If you talk to him after class and show interest he is a great teacher to take, is an easy A minus or B plus

This was by far the best class I ever had at USC. He always wanted to know if you understood the assignment, and when you didn't he would go far beyond the call of duty to help you. He's a cool guy who always makes you feel like you're a friend, not a student. If you can't make an A in his class, something is wrong.

Prof. Gilbert has to be one of the best english teachers here at USC. He is extremely helpful with papers. He will even look over it before it's due and give you advice on how to make it better. He gives quizzes but their easy...take him you will get at least a B in his class...if not better!!

Mr.Gilbert is a down-to-earth prof. He is very willing to help you if you ask. He gives daily quizes on the reading material but they are easy. This helps keep your average high. There are 5 papers you have to write but he helps you revise them. Overall he is a GREAT prof. Take Him!!
