Quizzes are done based off of reading from textbook (which is also available for free online). Lectures for the majority of the class but goes off on his own train of thoughts, so he does not follow lectures very closely. Gives you stories about his life and family often.

I would definitely take Professor Jacob again! He is the reason I am a sociology major and makes sure all of his students are excelling in class. There were no tests, just one big paper (for Professionalism in Sociology) and the lectures were always exciting and entertaining. I recommend you take him at least once!

Professor Jacob is hilarious. He lectures each class and frequently gets off-topic, but always ties it back to the material. He loves to tell stories, and if you participate and are engaged in his class you'll do well. Don't buy the book, he provides online links. Quizzes and exams are relatively easy with minimal studying.

Comment:

This was by far my favorite class and favorite professor I have ever had. He is hilarious, I guarantee you will laugh every time you go to his class. It is SO easy but at the same time the way he teaches and how he explains things makes it interesting to learn. I wish I could take every class with this guy, I would love school, lol.

Prof. Jacob is a good guy. There is light reading for in class quizzes which are easy points. Show up to class and you pass. I would recommend him. He tells stories most of class and is entertaining. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! He provides an online link for the book that's free.

Awesome professor, tells hilarious stories in class but still does a great job covering all the material. You'll actually enjoy class so much that you wont want to skip (yeah its possible). Take if you want and EASY CLASS, but still want to learn some basic soc material. Would recommend to anyone

Great professor. He is funny, but will gear teaching towards individual student needs. Dr. Jacob will help you any way that he can. Uses online readings instead of textbook. One of the best professor's that I've ever had for class. Extremely intelligent and knowledgeable in his field. You will learn in this class if you truly want to learn.

He is my advisor and I have taken him four times already. He is super hilarious and nice. His lectures are bearable, however he likes to use too many anecdotes (but they are always entertaining). His tests are a little tough, but as long as you study you are in good hands. If you are an anthbehavpsychsoc major, you should take him!

Seriously do not take this professor if you actually want to learn something. I have been wanting to take anthropology for years and was EXTREMELY disappointed. He told stories the entire time and spent 5 minutes at the end of class teaching. You have to read the book if you want to pass. If you want to learn anthropology at all about not take him!

He is so much fun! He tells stories relating to everything that we learn. It is a very easy A if you show up and take notes. There are many quizzes, but just study the vocab boxes and you will have all of the information that you need. He even drops your lowest test score. There are only two tests and a final. It's an easy 4.0.

All he does is talk about his family. I know more about his family than the class. He gives open ended quizzes for every chapter which are just vocab from the chapter. He hands out study guides for every test and as long as you know the terms on them you will do good on the tests. attendance isn't mandatory but he will give out in-class activities
