This is the most poorly-designed course I've ever taken. Prepare for a lot of "busy work" and a ton of outside coursework that doesn't count for a grade, but for participation credit. He means well and its readily available to help, but until he reworks his exams, assignments, and class structure, I wouldn't recommend the course to anyone.

Would not take again. Doesn't seem to understand the appropriate difficulty for a 200 hundred level class. A lot of reading, almost all of it is boring. Almost everything is group based so you can only do as well as the rest of your group. Just a boring subject in general. I didn't have to take him and I wish that I wouldn't have.

Professor Klien is a very engaging professor who makes his topic interesting by including The Daily Show often, his political views were a bit over the top and some of the expectations were not very clear though this was an enjoyable class.

I took comm and politics. I usually hate politics but this man can hold your interest and make a topic interesting. the big group project took a lot of work but overall the class was worth it.

As a first year, I took this class not knowing what to expect. He was a really difficult grader, but that just made you want to work harder on your papers. The material was interesting and he did an amazing job integrating current events. Be prepared to read a lot but it's an enjoyable class.

He's a very tough grader...like to the extreme. Nothing wrong with the guy though, he's nice and puts youtube and recent events as a part of his lectures. be prepared to really really work a lot but you will end up learning and having some fun

I was completely disinterested in learning about the Origins of Communication before taking this class, but Professor Klien did an excellent job using current events, slight comedy and his great oration skills to make the class. There was a lot of reading assigned, but you just skimmed it and we went over it in class. As a SP prof, he's excellent
