Comment:
Levine is an interesting guy to say the least. At the beginning of the semester I enjoyed the course, but later on he became more irritable. He was unclear on the syllabus and with the directions he gave in class. He RARELY went by the syllabus, so if you miss a class good luck. I tried emailing him many times and every time he failed to reply.

Comment:
Levine is awkward, disorganized, and super disrespectful to his students. The syllabus is confusing but youre lucky if he even follows it. He talks so slow that its mind-numbing and often keeps students later to compensate. Much of the work is superficial. I left his class feeling like I retained nothing from it.

Horrible professor. Condescending and make the vibe for the class really uncomfortable. He expects a lot of work to be done, but doesn't give clear instructions on how to even do the work. His lectures are so dull that the class seems to go on forever, and he's just rude to his students. Take anyone else but him.

Absolutely terrible. DO NOT TAKE. He never follows the syllabus, always changed his mind on what we have to do, extremely slow talker. Not to mention, he is extremely rude to his students, he is never clear on what the assignments are or what his grading criteria is either. So if you take him, good luck. Id wait a semester or two for a good prof.

Intro to Acting is generally an easy A if you already enjoy acting but if you're new to acting, don't take this class, Levine will most likely make you hate acting. His gradings and due dates are confusing and unclear and he doesn't give you much creative freedom when it comes to scenes. Don't tell him your pronouns, he outed me to the whole class.

While he is not a professor that is easy to like, it is an easy A. He preaches that attendance is graded, but I missed many classes and assignments and still got an A-.

Terrible teacher. He never gave us any grades back and never let us know how we were doing. He's rude to you and isn't flexible. He gave us assignments that involved imitating other students in front of class and never let anyone know about essays that were due. Required us to pay to go see plays that were mandatory. Do not take this class.

Professor Emeritus Steven Levine is a great guy. He's very kind, but sometimes it feels as if his ego gets in the way of class. He's always going on tangents about his own past but is offended when students mention short stories and even speak to one another. He means well and it's clear to see, but sometimes it just feels like "The Levine Show."

Met him when I auditioned for a musical. He called me back 2x. Asked why I didn't get the part, he took the time to explain to me where I was strong, and a few areas where classes could help with inexperience. Very helpful, wanted to take a class just because of this. But not theatre major. He was knowledgeable.

He accords no respect to his students. You do everything his way, and if you question anything he says, he'll immediately shut it down, explain why you're wrong and he's right, and attempt to make you look like an idiot in front of the entire class. He's condescending, impatient, and expects too much out of people with no theatre experience. AVOID!

SUPER CONFUSING. He rambles quite a bit and barely makes sense. Sometimes we would read scenes other times we would listen to him ramble the whole class away. His directions are not always clear and his a tough grader which makes it worse. Though he is a sweet man he really needs to adjust his teaching style ASAP. AVOID IF YOU CAN.

Probably one of the most pompous professors I have ever had. He'll tell u a story of how he decided he wanted to be the smartest man in every room he enters. Little man complex is an understatement. He is super controlling and if you even think about straying from his way of doing things he'll correct you. He's overbearing which makes him annoying.

The professor is very knowledgeable about acting. If acting is your passion defenately take him. He doesn't give test but he will ask you to remember an scene. For me that was an easy A. Please don't ever disrespect him because he is really strictly about respect.

Class can be fun at times, but is usually extremely boring and difficult. Usually he goes off topic to talk about his life and we end up doing yoga exercises. There are lots of assignments. He seems to grade way too hard and expect a lot more than he should for an intro class. If you're an actor, take his class; otherwise stay far away from it.

Took the class for my art credit, expecting it to be easy. It was not. He's a very kind, older gentleman who does not realize he's teaching a level 100 intro class and that 90% of the attendees are there to just fulfill an arts requirement. 5 homework assignments, 2 papers on plays you MUST see, & a difficult final project to act a memorized scene.

OK so, don't take his class if you're not totally ready to take acting as seriously as an actual actor does. I took Intro to Acting for my art credit, expecting it to be easy. It was at times, but when it came to the final scene assignment, he was unbelievably difficult. Other than a memorized scene, there are 2 papers on plays you have to go see.

Stephen is an incredibly kind and gentle old man. However, his class is painstakingly boring. He is unclear on what he wants and does not tell you your grades, leaving you hanging on whether or not you did well. Take the class if you want an easy course but be aware of how boring it is.
