Comment:

Professor Marcone has his own teaching method that just doesn't work. He has a tendency of mumbling and makes numerous mistakes when teaching. He is unfair when it comes to tests. Not everyone is a good test taker, he expects his students to be robots and excel in everything he teaches.

Comment:

Unrealistic when it comes to the time he gives to finish HW. He wants you to listen to over 60 songs then read 200 pages and answer 50 q's + a discussion Q in two days. For the summer session (4wks) he gave us two books to read. I took this elective class thinking that it was going to be interesting, I hate his ways, wish I could drop it.

Professor Marcone is very knowledgeable, but he may be the worst professor I've ever had. I'm thankful that at the very least the content was interesting because I doubt I would have done well otherwise. And the assignments take nearly forever to finish unless you have every detail in the book memorized. Tests aren't much better either.

Marcone is something else. I've heard stories from people on campus that are both good and bad, but honestly I think he knows what he's doing. He's a bit disorganizing when teaching (ESPECIALLY an online class), and he mumbles a lot, but the class I took was really really easy. The Rock Music class, however, is really hard. Dr. Marcone is the quintessential music industry/management professor. He is the Ahmet Ertegun (Atlantic Records) of the WPU music management program. Highly respected in the music business, great musician, mentor,, and an excellent teacher.

I was really interested in learning about the music industry so I decided to take this class. I ended up learning a great deal but I was sorely disappointed by Dr. Marcone's teaching methods. He mumbles, lectures straight from the book and purposely words test questions so that they're incomphrehensible. Someone elese needs to teach his classes.

Marcone is a very knowledgeable man but he's not a good teacher. When he puts notes up, he erases them faster than you can copy them down, he doesn't allow enough time for his tests, and isn't helpful at all. The only upside is he'll add curves to some of the tests.

I'm not a great test taker, so he actually flatout told me i'm not cut out for the music biz. Any idiot knows that all you need is connections and the actual experience in the industry, not some 25 page test that half the class doesnt finish anyway. Well, Marcone,I'm a personal assistant to a CEO of a reputable music company now, so kiss my a$$.

I had him for an online class. Sometimes it was hard to figure out the seriousness of some of the material, but that comes with every online course. The mid and final weren't difficult. If you have him for an online course, read the books, do the listenings and you'll have no problem.

This rating is only for mus 270!Very knowledgeable but unclear because I can't understand anything he says when he reads from the book. He makes the exams way too long. I don't see why he feels that he has to give us so many long math problems and expect us to complete all of them in time when it takes him 30 minutes just to do one in class.

He's very knowledgeable about the business but somehow that doesn't translate into his lectures. I felt like I barely learned anything, and I paid attention as hard as I could and took notes. The tests are too long, and too much math. He only likes people that don't shut up, so I guess you have to be a loudmouth in his class for him to respect you.

Dr. Marcone did so much for me. I was a transfer student and he worked hard to make sure I got credit for classes that originally didn't transfer over and would have prevented me from graduating. He understands that what you do in the classroom is not nearly as important as the contacts you make outside the classroom and he'll give you credit for trying your best in his classes.

i wanted to be in the music industry since i was like 5 years old but this man ruined it for me. so boring, hard, and doesnt give a crap about any of his students doing well. tests are ridiculously hard and puts questions that we never learned. waste of time. no one needs the classes to be in the biz anyway. it's all about who you know.
