This guy is a joke. He wants students to think that he knows all there is to know about international relations, but in reality he rambles on about non-topical BS. Not to mention that he made me feel really uncomfortable when I would ask for help, as he tends to stare at the front of my shirt instead of my face.

His command of his field and anything tangentially related is intimidating. I hope he moves on to the State Dept. when he retires. Funny and interesting, but not easy.

His lecture is very hard to follow. If you do the reading and go to all the classes you should be able to do well. It is a pretty difficult class and he uses three text books that you need to stay up on the reading for the tests!

Sallie is a very interesting professor. His lectures are scattered but entertaining. He is an expert in his field but never gives his point of view or gives any clue that he is anything but a garden-variety teacher that leans on text books which is disappointing. His tests are difficult and cover all three texts. Overall I would recommend him.

Not neccessary to go to lectures, since everything he tests on is covered in the reading, which he doesnt really go over during lectures - he just rambles.

If you have any chance NOT to take this required course from Sallie, take it. This guy is a joke, his "method" is rambling on vaguely and superficially dancing around concepts of IR, totally unprepared for class sessions. Plays the sympathy card come every professor review time,(2nd class I've taken)and hands out a brutal final to kill your grade.

Took him a couple years back and really didn't like him. Couldn't stand this class! I just really didn't like his method of teaching and his ramblings. He completely ruined Poli Sci. for me! The only good thing about this class is that he curves on his HARD tests.

He lets you know right away that he is well versed in the topic of conversation (international relations) but never shows that. Not that there isn't sufficient time in the semester, but he's busy showing irrelevant movies. (Independence Day? Fatal Attraction?) These movies waste time on an already complicated subject without added insight. BAD CLAS

Very cool and laid back prof. Brilliant in IR. 4 tests, 4 different formats. I rocked 2, struggled on 2, & studied for all equally--go figure. Lectures on interesting stuff, but tests heavily from the texts (we had 3 this semester). Do the reading and go to class! A smart and thought provoking dude.

I took International Relations from Sallie three years ago and thru his wonderful choice of texts and conectivity with his subject I still easily recall much of what was taught. That to me speaks volumes.

Cool professor. Kind-of the mad professor type, and sometimes hard to follow when taking notes. Knows a TON about the subjects he teaches (almost always lectures without reading notes) as well as pop culture, especially music. Keep up on the assigned reading. Test format is crazy, but actually improves most grades. Funny guy, good class.
