Prof Schick was a great lecturer and made class enjoyable. If you want to do well on the exams (Which are not hard) you need to go to class to hear the listening examples as well as the information he wants you to know. One midterm, a final, and a music performance response make up the class

You can feel his passion about music in his tone and professionalism in his diction. He even arranges performances (Even himself!) to give students a first hand experience with new music and music with nature. Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE his class!!

On a paper that was 1/3 of the grade, he gave me an F because I didn't enjoy the music. He talked with me after class and told me that my analysis was well thought out insightful, but because of my negative attitude toward the music style I would fail this part of the class.

If you decide to take a freshmen seminar, take Listener's Collective! Only 4 two hour sessions the whole quarter. There's no work. All you have to do is be present and bring in your own music, which the class will listen to and discuss. Professor Schick is funny, intelligent, and passionate about music. I learned so much more about music from him!

If you're interested to take a seminar class, DEFINITELY TAKE SGT PEPPER'S. There's absolutely no hw or projects, all you do is listen to Beatles songs and talk about the songs.

Interesting prof. Very bright. Opened my eyes to classical music. Concerts were awesome, especially with dates. Mid/final are not so weighted, only 1/3 of grade. Attendance is 1/3. 2 essays are 1/3. My TA was chill. This class was worth my time unlike other classes. He's a conductor so he knows his music well.

I took the Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club freshman seminar. Prof Schick was very friendly and knowledgeable. He encouraged participation, so be prepared to be called on, even if you don't raise your hand.

Can't really say much except that he's the coolest guy. For all of you who want an easy A, yeah, it's a good class, but it's really all about the music...and you can tell that that's what he's all about. makes music interesting (more than it already is). He's extremeley entertaining, and I wouldn't want to miss one of his classes. TAKE IT.

This class was easy. Attendance was 1/3. Two concert reports were 1/3. Midterm & Final were 1/3. He doesn't write down notes on the board so you have to write the important stuff he says. You should go to section for clarity on the lectures.

YOU MUST ATTEND LECTURE. Everything he tests on is based on lecture since he doesn't make you buy a textbook. Sometimes he picks really random things for test questions so be sure to write down all the key terms he defines. He is a funny guy who is very passionate about music.

Though he is a little vague on his grading scheme it's an easy A if you attend lecture, go to the concerts, and do what he says. Schick is pretty amusing and it's not a time consuming class at all.

I took a 4 day Freshman Seminar called "Listener's Collective" with professor Schick. The class was absolutely awesome. Students would bring in music, and the class would listen and make comments. Professor Schick really makes you think about music in a way you never have before, and he is an incredibly insightful, easy going, smart guy.

I won't say great professor, but he's a great person. One of those people you'd love to have as a friend. He was pretty vague on grading which bugged me throughout the quarter, just trust that it's an easy A class so long as you do what he'll tell you to do. Awesome class in general. Usually you won't mind having to go to class. I'll miss it.

He's good Professor. Lectures are interesting, although sometimes he seemed to overdo them by talking on and on. Class overall is easy. Just go to the concerts and write reports and final exam is fairly easy too. I learned a lot from this class. I don't know,I now enjoy and even listen to classical songs in my leisure time--UNBELIEVABLE! Take him!

this is the best class i ever took in my 4 years at ucsd. i hated the final project, but the midterm and final were easy. class is not difficult at all; even if u knew nothing about the beatles like i did, you could easily get an A by going to class and taking good notes. too bad he isn't teaching this class anymore.

Music 15 (The Beatles) is such an easy and fun class. The lectures may be long, but are only once a week (so it makes it mandatory if you want to do well). Sections are mandatory, but go over everything you need to know. Professor Schick is a great professor and makes the subject fun to learn. Unfortunately, he is not teaching this class anymore!

Yes, he is great. But the class was worthless. Lectures are amusing, but I wish I had signed up for a different class. I hated the sections, and i hated the project we had to do. I guess I didn't realize this was a MUSIC class, not a history of the Beatles class.
