DO NOT GET THE BOOK! it's just word by word what he talkes about in lecture. Honestly his class is just an overpriced version of his book. He's a very nice guy. Don't miss class or you will fail because of your attendence. You do one 20 minute oral report with a partner and a 11 page essay that can be based on same subject as oral report.

Professor Ostrow is the cutest old man ever. He has a TON of experience in Broadway, and really just has fun with the class. He lectures on Mondays, and sings on Wednesdays from the musicals he lectured on. Easiest class Ive taken, and it was a ton of fun. One (partner) presentation, one (11 page) research paper over virtually any topic you choose

Professor Ostrow is the greatest instructor ever!! He held lectures on Mondays and sang for us on Wednesdays. He is so adorable and passionate! He cares about his students and wants you to be able to get engaged in musical theatre as much as he is. The class itself consists of an oral report and an essay, both easy A's!

Awesome professor! He has won 4 Tony Awards and shares stories from when he was a Broadway producer during his lectures. Only two assignments for the class. The assignments can seem long, but he assigns them on the first day of class so you have plenty of time to complete them. He lectures on Mondays and sings on Wednesdays.

Not clear grading criteria. He took out his course from blackboard and so you can't see your grade. You will be graded on an oral presentation and an oral report to present. I really know how I was graded cause I got a B and did everything I could. He seems to have favorites and I noticed that if you cheer for him, you are likely to get an A. -_-

I signed up for this class thinking it was about traditional theatre (Shakespeare), boy was I wrong. This class is about musical theatre and Professor Ostrow splits his lectures between discussing famous musicals, telling stories from his 40-year career as a Broadway producer, and sharing his life-long passion for musicals by singing to the class

At first, he's obnoxious. You will be freaked out. Then you settle into the class, and he becomes the greatest guy ever. There's only two grades, a presentation and a paper, both over any topic of your liking. The grades on the presentations might freak you out, but the papers are an easy A. Mondays are lecture, on Wednesdays he sings.

This is the most unconventional class I have EVER been in & that's not necessarily a bad thing. I was in the MW class and on Mondays, he would give a lecture, and on Wed, he would sing to us. Wed are more interesting for me, but you gotta attend class & stay awake! There is one paper due, and an oral report with a partner.

Whether your an aspiring actor or just need 3 hr of fine arts credit, this is the class to take. Grade counts on attendance, presentation(use the projector!), and a 3000 word essay. He's a former Broadway director and very passionate about musical theater. Very fun and interesting class.

Very prestigious professor; I give him my highest recommendation because not too many people can make students enthusiastic about Theater. Your grade will consist of attendance, an oral report, and an 11 page paper. He is a great professor and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I am very honored to be able to call him one of MY professors.
