Dr Chakraborti's lectures only cover 1-2 questions relevant to the tests. I taught myself 95% of the material. The final was nothing like the other tests; AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Comment:

Homework on website is different from homework assigned out of the textbook. Any of these questions can be in his random quizzes or homeworks that he takes up for attendance. Print out your own Quiz & Hw templates so when he randomly decides to take something up, you will be able to get credit. Confusing teacher, wouldnt recommend.

All lectures are mandatory, yet this is not the problem. We are not taught during the 75 min lectures. I have never been so lost or confused in a course before, and the homeworks do not correlate with the quizzes. We spend our time doing pointless activities. Didn't take this professor on purpose but got switched in. Wish me luck.

Comment:

Dr. Chakraborti is truly one of the most inspiring professors at Alabama. That being said, he is also one of the most demanding. Expect to attend every lecture and have homework every week. There are a lot of quizzes, and he wants you to participate. If you're willing to keep up, though, you will walk away with a profound respect for statistics.

Although he may be a hard teacher, he is an extremely insightful and caring guy. He values knowledge and wants his students to truly learn the material at hand. The homework and quizzes might be a pain, but if you actually pay attention to him and try, youll do just fine. He is willing to meet with you outside of class for extra help too

I can't speak for lower level classes but Dr. Chakraborti is a great choice for your upper devision stats courses. I had him for 2 semesters in the Math Stats courses and while it was an extremely difficult course, he truly does care about the students and gives them every opportunity to succeed. If you struggle, make sure to attend review sessions

Great teacher, challenging but invested in students. Thinks hes hilarious and makes terrible jokes that are actually really funny. I will be taking him again any chance I have.

Dr. Chakraborti is by far the worst professor I've had at UA. He gives a ton of HW, many quizzes, and will not answer ANY questions people ask in class. He does the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM I have ever seen out of a professor. He is uncaring and incredibly rude. He does not teach. You have to teach yourself everything. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY NO MATTER WHAT.

Great Teacher. He does have bad reviews, but he has slacked up. He is willing to work with people who actually try. This class isnt easy, so go to everything that he makes available. But he remembers faces well and is willing to help people who may fall short on their grades.

Dr. Chakraborti is an awesome professor! So insightful. He will push you to learn and achieve your best. No tolerance type of professor, but willing to help and allow you to self discover. Would recommend to any student that has self initiative and love for statistics!

I am an average student I have a 3.2 GPA and I struggled immensely with this class. He is extremely unclear with things that are due and his lectures are confusing and not helpful, you are also expected to teach things to yourself. My only hope was the review sessions with the TA. I would avoid this professor if possible he is an awful teacher!

I'll start this review by saying that I have a 3.9 GPA, graduated valedictorian of my high school, and had a 34 on the ACT. I was able to get a B in this class, but ONLY by carefully reading the text and independent study. Dr. Chakraborti's classes are useless for learning, and aside from that he is an awful and rude man. Avoid him if possible.

Teacher asks you to read almost every night. There is homework from the book to do almost every class. There is also usually a quiz every class. Teacher randomly takes up the homework or gives quizzes, so if you miss class you have the chance of losing participation points. He expects you to know everything prior to class and cannot communicate

Avoid this man if you can help it. By far my worst class so far at UA and I actually tried. He does not explain things well and expects you to know it already. He took half the class to let the TA teach and he did way better than the professor! A tough class shouldn't be made tougher than it already is.

Would not recommend. He was hard to understand, left out important information during lectures, quizzed us on weird information from the videos - like 'what was the narrator's name?', and assigned us a group project that was not on the syllabus. Very difficult professor with extremely hard exams. He was my first B at UA, and I was proud to get it.

Do not take this professor. I was in his MWF class and i didnt miss more than 3 classes, did every homework assignment, studied rigorously for the tests and i got a D in the class. My favorite part of this class was when the TA, taylor, would help teach. This is by far the worst and hardest class i've taken.

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He teaches very little all semester and does not care that much about helping his students. I could hardly understand him and his tests are very hard. Also, he is very hard to get in touch with. The only reason I passed this class was because of the TAs. I would avoid taking his class if possible.
