Dr. Gronewold is a good professor but promotes marxist/communist views and dislikes capitalism--big suprise. Somehow it gets brought out in many lectures and does get annoying after a while.

The Diplomatic History of Far East class was awesome! Dr. Gronewold first focused on the history of international relations of Asian nations dealing with each other & the West. Then she turned to modern Asia's security & stability issues. Lastly, there was a fake summit in which the students pretended to be diplomats confronting a crisis in Asia.

She'll teach you all about the various kinds of Asain religions and she'll help you when you need it. The only thing about this class I disliked was having to work with maps. The maps she handed out were just terrible and you really couldn't work with them because they were way too small. It's like she didn't put any effort into making maps better.

The course History of Far Eastern Civilization was an okay course to take and Prof. Gronewold was alright. But I do have a complaint. First of all you don't really learn much about "Asian Culture" you just really learn about the ancient religions of Asia. I know religion has a part in culture but there has to be more to it than just religion.

She may not lecture for the entire class, but you most certainly do learn. The entire semester you work with a group and you learn EVERYTHING about the continent your group is given. This is where the learning happens bc you are reading about (say Asia), therefore you are expected to learn everything about that ONE main continent. Take this class!

Avoid at ALL COST!!! Gives way too much work and loves to talk about her personal life rather than teach the class useful information. Haven't learned a thing in her class. It's a shame I didn't listen to the warnings.

A little absentminded, but AWESOME. She loves teaching & is all about you learning. So much so she puts you in gorups & has you teach the class the chapers that you have been reading. LOTS of group activities which makes the learning experience fun and rewarding. Plus she dresses so chic & fashionable!

Super nice lady. Very pretty too! She is so passionate about Asian studies. The workload is appropriate for the course. The Final Exam hit us out of nowhere but it was fair enough. She grades a little harshly but gives opportunities to improve your grade. Sometimes rambles on and loses students focus, but she definitely knows her stuff!

Had her for East Asia History. Her idea of "East Asia" though is just 6 weeks on India, 7 weeks on China and the other 3 weeks for the rest of Asia (Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, etc.) She also seemed more interested in telling stories about New York City and her sons than the material at times.

Had her for East Asia History. She is very nice and helpful. She may be alittle unorganized, but she means well. The work load may be alot at first, but she sets it up in an stress-free way. She is the Hist Dept. Chair so she is very helpful with stuff in that major. Grades fairly. Show up to class and you will pass.

She was good and knew the course material inside and out, but she seemed to have more interest in New York City and her personal life than making sure we understood the material. I also rarely got graded assignments back and couldn't keep track of my grade. However, I try to cut her some slack for her duties as chair of the History Department.

Dr. Gronewold is a very nice lady, she has a great love and interest in Asian history, and well she it shows very much. She mostly teaches geography and religion. All the other stuff sort of gets lost in the class. Over all she is easy, do your work, go to class and you will have no problem getting an A.

I had Dr. G. a few semesters ago, and while I wasn't overly interested in the class, I did learn a lot from her. Since her class, she's taken an active interest in guiding me through my next 2 years at Kean and my future. She's the biggest sweetheart and she actually cares about the students that she teaches. Take her! It'll be worth it.
