she's super sweet, and genuinely wants you to do well. she encourages participation in class, but never makes you feel dumb for not knowing something. when someone said something wrong, she made it into a teaching moment for the entire class. tests weren't easy, but mme. was super approachable for extra help. would recommend mme. Dorff 100%

THE BEST FRENCH PROFESSOR EVER, seriously though i can't emphasise enough. She is SO energetic, cheerful, funny, cute. Some might find her energy overwhelming but i personally LOVED it! She made french so enjoyable to study for.

She is so friendly and funny! French has never been my favorite subject, but she actually made it enjoyable. The class was fair and not difficult at all as long as you showed up to class. Probably the best French teacher I've had.

dropped this class within a week, could already tell i wasn't gonna learn anything from her. the book for the course was $500 (outrageous), and she made it clear that we were supposed to do all our learning from the book, which if i'm paying for BU no way i'm going to just learn from a book. she seems nice, could be easy, not good for beginngers

If you're absolutely new to french and haven't done it in the past, dont make the mistake of taking her. She expects all her students to know stuff that she doesnt even teach in class. Speaks in french in class and expects you to understand which is quite impossible. Not suggested for first semester french.

Dorff is filled with frenetic energy that keeps the class relatively interested, but that I personally found grating. She doesn't explain concepts very well, and expects students to know material that she hasn't taught. Fair with grading though, and doesn't assign too much work. Not bad, but not amazing.

I was terrible at french but she tried to help me a lot. Really hard to understand when she speaks french but she was funny and tried to make stuff easier in class. Doesn't really write anything on the board. Take her if you're good at french

Professor Dorff is adorable, I love her! She goes over all the readings in class and you get practice tests that mirror the real ones. I had a horrible grades in French levels 1-3, but now I have an A. If you can take Dorff, you should.

She is nice and bubbly but somewhat insulting and sarcastic. She doesn't tell you how much your grade is affected by participation so it isn't enough to speak when called on, do all homework, and go to every class. The class is not too hard but it is memory based and doesn't prepare you very well for lf112.

Prof. Dorff is very enthusiastic and straightforward; she can almost seem insulting, but it's always in good humor. She talks very quickly. Very few tests, but very memory-based. However, there's never any reason to not know material on her tests because she goes over everything in class. Doesn't focus on learning new material - practice is key

Very nice and understanding. Lots of reading and you must have a good memory, not as good at explaining all the passages as Hennessy was if you took 221. Likes to talk politics and is def a democrat - sometimes a little insulting if you don't share her views on everything. Not too hard to get As if you study hard and show up.

I love this woman. She is so nice! She wants you to do well, so she'll be glad to meet you half way on the work. Attendance is very helpful for the tests, because all the questions are from class. However, I'd be hesitant to recommend this professor to anyone who isn't familiar with the language.
