This class is ALOT of work. GP expects a lot from you. There is lots of work outside of class, including a service learning project that we did. Be prepared to read the book because there are daily writings due in almost every class (prepared before) and they come out of the book readings. Very interesting class but not for someone with a full load

Expects A LOT of you-You'll find your breaking point here IF NOT PREPARED! Class demands 4-5+ hours/week! A LOT to do for activities OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. Tests are VERY difficult-You HAVE to know your material! Would not recommend if not going into child related field! Great teaching concepts, but so much to do it's difficult to retain material.

Amazing class, spectacular professor. GP will help you if you go to her, her lectures are always easy to follow you just have to put time into the class. She doesn't ask more then what should be expected of a college level class. Learned a lot.

Dr GP, is an outstanding person and she truly cares that you learn what you need to further your studies. This woman is the most helpful and gracious lecturer. She is ethical and down to earth and can be your best ally. Ive learned more from her than any other person at U of m Flint,that is the truth no bias. She has a real true heart for edu.

Not a good experience. Sorry. She is not a bad person, but she is a inconsiderate teacher. She does not seem to understand that students have more in their lives than her class. She sits high and mighty on her principles and looks down at the rest of the world. And if you don't agree with what she thinks, she will not grade your papers very nicely.

This woman will make you work....but its worth every penny. She is willing to meet students half-way if students are willing to put in the effort. She helped with a thesis, and helped me turn it into a masterpiece. The hardest i have ever worked in my life....thanks GP. JM

It is hard to make an Abnormal Psychology class boring, but even still she was very interesting! The entire class was set up well, even though I hate working in groups. I enjoyed her and the class.. learned a lot!

Lectures aren't effective at all, you must do all the reading, and be sure to study the slideshows she puts on blackboard. Her approach to teaching is very diversified and helps you to do better in the class, loved the class liked the professor, overall a pretty good experience.

Very good professor. She's friendly and very interested in the success of her students. She practices a varity of teaching methods. Tests are taking individually and with a group, making a good grade easier to achieve. Class is interesting. Downfall- her lectures are not very effective.

Dr. Gano-Phillips is a great teacher. You do have to learn alot of material, But she will do whatever she can to help outside of class. She really cares about her students and their success. She is very intelligent so you will learn alot from her. She also uses a variety of teaching techniques.

Excellent teacher. Uses varied methods to make points (text, printed notes, video, real-life examples, personal stories). She covers a lot of material (and expects you to know it), but provides tons of help outside of class if you need it.
