Not recommended. He's a nice guy and wants to help but his teaching style is awful. He has an English major vocabulary so its hard to understand him when he describes the C++ terms. The book is your best friend!!!! Just make sure you check his documents on angel and have a friend or tutor there for backup.

haha... this guy, basically there will be 2 or 3 students in the class who know whats going on so make friends with them. during test days you will sit there not knowing what to do like the people around you and in the end he will take everyones grades and round them. everyone ends up somewhere around a C+. miserable class

Unfairly gets a bad rap. He is hard to understand if you don't have a C++ background, but take the time to ask for help when you need it. Very hard to take notes, and the pace of the class sometimes goes too fast. But he will help you if you ask for it.

Not as bad as everyone says. The book isn't used much in class but if you do the exercises in them you'll do fine. I could never figure out how much he wanted for tracing, so be sure to step all the way until you get to the assembly (Teaching yourself assembly really helps!)

Not a very interesting teacher. His lessons are hard because he doesn't actually teach you how to use the program. You copy and paste his program into your workspace. Then when you ask for help, he just expects you to know what you're doing. I wouldn't recommend him unless you ABSOLUTELY need this class for your major.

Avoid if possible..Worked outside of class like crazy to try to understand this. Managed a B+ 1 point short of an A- but he wouldn't give it to me even with perfect attendance. Expects you to know everything, makes you feel nervous. He asks if you have questions...only to avoid you unless your his favorite. Good luck having a positive attitude.

I'm pretty sure I've been anti-learning C++ since the day I walked into his classroom. If I could put zeros in for helpfulness and clarity I would. His grading is inconsistent and biased. Also, his emphasis on learning to trace stuff in memory from programs copied from the book doesn't help anyone to learn the programming language. WORST PROF EVER!

(SIGH)....wat can i say...he's knows how to program...but i dont think he can teach very well...This is an intro to C++ and he teaches like it's a core-level class...he does however wants you to pass...he'll try his best to help you if you're having trouble...But he's the only CMPSC teacher here...so you have no choice but to take him...GOOD LUCK!

He knows what he's talking about, but his teaching methods are not the best. Usually the class doesn't know what he wants us to turn in. The book will help you a lot to get through his classes. Good guy, but a bad teacher.

He knows his topic but has a hard time communicating well. Often class is in limbo because his instructsion are ambiguous and unclear. One Weekly assigment doc was 33 pages long with the actual requirements hidden in the text. Good guy but use the book to learn the concepts and try to understand what he is asking for.

He gets a very bad rap but its not entirely undeserved. He expects cmpsci to be your life outside of the classroom and assumes you study accordingly. Class can be difficult if you're not familiar with the material or don't study. He IS fairly unclear; try to decipher his weekly assignment docs if you want to have any clue what's going on.

the man sounds like a robot and you will spend 90% of the class wondering what your supposed to be doing, 5% confused as all hell, and 5% giving up and playing computer games i didn't know anything about C++ but still have an A, so just use common sense and you will be fine
