Dr. King was a great professor for this lab class. She explained concepts in a way that felt very clear to me and she also made it clear what concepts were going to be on the lab final

I really loved having Dr. King as my professor for this class. She is extraordinarily caring and very honest about what topics are going to be on the exam. Would definitely take her again for another chemistry class

Her notes are taken directly from the textbook, but they are much more organized and easy to follow. She lectures by basically just annotating her own notes. Her tests this quarter were very fair, and she tells you exactly what to expect. Try to go to discussion; the problems on the worksheets are super similar to her exam questions. Solid!

Comment:
King is great, at least for 51A is all I know. Her lectures notes are incredibly useful and clear. Reading those give a great foundation for her exams. Since they took out some material this year for 51A, it was easier than usual, with an 80% average. Main complaint is all the tryhards take her so the curve is much harder and her grading is harsh.

The notebooks she wrote specifically for her class are super useful when it comes to studying for her tests; you can clearly know where and what to study. She is very considerate for the students and also very upfront when it comes to telling the students what concepts is gonna be tested heavily.

I took Susan King for all her Ochem Classes, she is a good teacher in her explanations in lecture and discussions but her tests are pretty hard. If you plan to take her give 51A a try to see if you like her since its the easiest class. After 51A she challenges synthesis, & challenge qs and some ranking/mechanisms. She hates nomenclature.

King is good for Chem Majors, maybe not so good for Chem Eng majors. She makes you work for it, but hands you the pre lab questions in a gift basket. Take her for lecture if you want to learn, take her for lab if you want to get by.

King is one of the favorite profs at UCI. She has a stigma of giving difficult tests, but that should be the least of your concerns when her pros outweigh. Her lectures & materials are clear-cut, meaning everything you need to know is presented to you. Do textbook problems, Sapling, attend lectures, and you're set. King allowed me to enjoy ochem.

Amazing lecturer, but for exams you really need to understand the material. Exams are challenging, but straightforward in a sense. Avg is 60%. Gives lots of examples and has podcasts. Do sapling, practice problems, discussion worksheets (discussions are optional), and get help from the TAs. Purchase her helpful notes too. She goes a bit fast.

She lectures really fast and makes the learning environment really stressful. Her tests are harder than the other OChem teachers. It's a trap, save yourself and take Guan

King is an amazing Prof. who teaches chemistry really well and is passionate about it. However, if you are not in love with ochem, and still want an A or B - don't take her bc you have to BREATHE AND LIVE OCHEM TO PASS HER CLASS. NO partial credit on synthesis problems and her synthesis probelms are WILD, harder than book prob. - No Extra Credit!

Dr. King is an amazing professor!!!! Her lectures are clear and organized especially since she provides fill in the blank notes for you at the bookstore. Her tests are difficult but if you study hard you'll be fine. I'd definitely take her again!

I took the ochem series with Dr. King and she is the best professor I have had yet at UCI. Ochem is a hard subject and King expects a lot from you. But her class inspired me to love ochem, which pushed me to work hard. If you efficiently pace yourself and practice often, you'll do well in the class

Took King for Chem 51ABC and she was really passionate. She was a great professor who explained each concept well and was clear on what to know. Book problems are optional but they are the key to an A. I did all saplings and book problems and I always get a good grade on her exams. I recommend that you try those problems. Put in the effort :)

A great lecturer. Very clear on what will be on the test and what won't be on the test. Prepares her own notes, which you have to buy at the bookstore, but it's definitely worth the $15. Gives lots of examples and lots of practice problems.

Great lectures. Provides her own notes ($20) with areas for you to fill in in lecture. Has sapling hw (10% of overall grade). Two midterms and a final. To get a good grade, DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS.
