The first 2 classes were very unconfortable b/c Susan came across like a lion HOWEVER after that(& the weak dropped out) I found her to be very informative. She is direct & her syllibus is CRYSTAL clear. She pushes you in a good way. If you listen, take her advice you will sure get good grades.I wish all instructors used Susan clear direct approach!

I think she is just very dry. she may seem like a bear the first class, with high expectations, but don't drop out! once you settle into the class, things are pretty easy and she isn't so bad. Just do the work, dig right in and it will be over before you know it. she is quite helpful. occassionaly degrading but overall, good exp.

This class is interesting- but she is not. I found her to be dry, and degrading to students. She talked down to us a lot, and made it seem like teaching was a chore. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There is a lot of work and reading. She was precise about what she expected which was good. usually very clear on tests and questions.

A very demanding class but highly recommended. One of the most beneficial classes I have taken in my undergraduate studies. Susan is a bit different and can come off harsh but don't let that stop you from taking her class. This class does take a lot of time and hard work. Overall outstanding!

Susan was a really good teacher. There were some assignments that seemed impossible but once you dug into them it wasn't too hard. All in all it was a great experience and definately mind opening, Susan was a bit opinionated at times, but so are all teachers! Take the class!

If you are in college to actually learn something and challenge yourself, you must take this class. Susan is very intelligent and demanding. She even takes attendance - now that is a refreshing change at a university - you are held accountable for your effort!

She grades unfairly and judges you and your ideas by her own preconceived notions even though the purpose of her class is to do just the opposite. Extreme amount of work for her is required, and then you WILL be wrong.

Susan can be harsh and pushes her students that may be uncomfortable at times. She teaches the subject matter well, but her own opinions cloud her judgment at times. If you point out your reasons she will reevaluate, but you must be on top of things and be organized or you could be in trouble.

Susan makes you work for your grade. However, she is VERY understanding and willing to meet you in the middle. Very interesting, very unique sense of humor. She's an acquired taste. I adore her, though, and look forward to taking more courses with her in the fall.

Susan acted as if though on a power trip. She had a cauky disposition. There were many assignments that just seemed like busy-work to me. The time requirements (outside of class) for this class were too great considering it's only a 200 level course. My other courses suffered due to this course.

Susan is an amazing professor. The classes she teaches are challenging but not overwhelming. She requires attendence but it is the only class at USM that i have ever actually wanted to attend. She is very fair in her grading. If you have to take SOC classes you should take them with her.

Susan is a great professor, goes over material until it is clear to the entire class. She has a way of getting your attention and keeping it. She knows Sociology in and out and is will to take it down a level to explain. I 100% recomend you take her classes! She is what teaching should be all about!
