She's so awesome she gives you every chance to make up work that you haven't done. And she puts everything up online so if you miss a class you can still get the materials. Although her class is lecture heavy and she does give out a lot of assignments I would love to have her as a teacher again.

She was an incredible teacher! English/Writing are not my strengths but I learned so much from her. She is extremely helpful, always replies to emails, and is very clear on what she wants. You have to try and do your work but overall it isn't a hard class if you listen and work hard.

Excellent introduction to English Composition, especially for somebody who hasn't written an essay in a very long time. Generally speaking, the majority of the assignments were require a lot of work but if you dedicate an appropriate amount of time you wont have a problem. Easily accessible outside of class. Attendance is important.

I LOVE this prof! She gives amazing feedback and she is great about telling you exactly what she would like form you. She gives a packet on the first day that explains every single paper you'll have to write so you know ahead of time. Meigs makes class extremely entertaining so you won't doze off.

As with all reviews, I have to imagine that those who left Prof. Meigs bad ones were students who didn't put in much effort, then blamed it on her. Prof. Meigs is one of the most stimulating teachers I've ever had. She is patient, fun, and so happy to work with you on literally anything. I worked hard & got an A+ in her class (with missed days!).

Susan is one of my favorite professors! Eventually, when I need to take English Comp 2, I'll be thrilled to have her as my professor again. She is so willing and ready to work with you! Go to class, don't be lazy and you'll easily get an A!

Prof Megs was very patient and understanding as a teacher. always allowed you to better your grade if you weren't doing well with re-writes and extra credit. lots of homework but not very difficult. had about 5 papers through the semester. always available outside of class and even does some English tutoring at the School. Would def take her again.

I love her! By far the best English professor I've ever had. She might seem harsh while grading your first couple of papers, but she means well. She truly cares about her students and work. No in-class tests, but make sure you do the homework and give yourself enough time to throughly write all of her papers!

She is so reasonable and kind! If you get a grade back on a paper that you don't agree with, she'll let you keep working on it past the due date and even change it if it has improved!! She encourages people to come talk to her if they're having any conflicts inside or outside the class. Also, she plays Monty Python during class (it's awesome).

I absolutely LOVED professor Meigs. It's so obvious how hard she works to make sure people not only learn the required material and master it, but also grow as writers and students. I've never had a teacher put so much effort into helping each individual student become successful. I would absolutely recommend her!

The bad reviews for professor Meigs are way off base and I'm not sure how they even made it to the site. She was a great prof., made herself available to help, did not deduct for different opinions and was really one of the best professors I've had yet. Don't believe the negative reviews. She is top notch.

Professor Meigs is a wonderful teacher! She is kind and easily accessible. For instance, Professor Meigs encourages students to visit during her office hours if they're struggling or have a question. Communicate the issue and she will help. Honestly, Professor Meigs clearly wants to see her students succeed. She is the best teacher I have ever had!

Reading is required. Each class is based on a short-story/poem/play you read prior. You can basically get by from reading everything, doing the online reading quizzes, and the papers without going to class, but she passes around a sheet of paper to sign in each time so attendance is mandatory.

Intro to Literature is by far the most boring class I have ever taken. You read several literature works and take an online quiz for homework up to two weeks before discussing one in class. The class feels like a debate about what she thinks and what you and your classmates think and she will often shoot down your own opinion.

I'm reading these reviews and I can't believe anyone would rate Susan Meigs as poor. Genuinely, one of the best professors of my experience. The class was fantastic and I wish she taught English courses in addition to Comp1 & 2. She is very helpful and always there when you need help. The course is challenging, but that is the way it should be.
