Her lectures: boring and useless. rambles incoherently about random stuff. Her exams: the essays are over details about topics you don't cover in class, so you're pretty much on your own. Don't take her British History class if you can help it.

Professor Pennybacker is a very nice person who is extremely knowledgeable about British history. She likes to analyze the writings in great detail. Great detail. There is also a lot of reading to do. But as a history major I loved the class.

Extremely knowledgeable. Assigns interesting and thought-provoking readings, as well as relevant films. Fair, but tough, grader - spends a lot of time looking over papers and exams and writing comments. I learned a great deal in this class, and took a lot away from it.

An expert on Britain and UK affairs of all time periods. Passionate about her subject, and will go to great lengths for the student if asked. She is better in the seminar than in the lecture. We are on opposite sides of the political spectrum but share an interest in British history. A loyal profesor who will grade favorably if you know her.

I took history 103+208 in my first year. If you read the material and dont listen to the idiots who reviewed before you will learn that professor Pennybacker is very liberal yes, but very knowledgeable about Europe in the 20th century, almost unparalleled English Historian at Trinity. I'm a conservative, its not hard to cope. RE-Writes for papers.

Horrible teacher. Rants and raves about anything and everything except the subject matter. Makes absolutely no sense, cannot control the volume of her voice, and constantly is talking about current events instead of the period of history she's supposed to be teaching. Learned NOTHING.

A terrific teacher - passionate and knowledgeable. 70+ students, and she still thoroughly marks all papers. Don't slack off or you'll be totally lost; that said, she does everything she can to keep your grade up. That means rewrites, optional readings, opportunities for extra credit, options on the exam. I really enjoyed the class.

Omg this woman is so painfully to the Left politically it hurts. While she obviously is an intelligent human being she is about as interesting as a rock unless you love gay poets... It seems to be all she wants to talk about! That and Hartford which is also the most boring aweful place in the world. wanted to jump out the freaking window sometimes.

very knowledgable but is not able to translate this into comprehensive sentences for those who don't already know everything. spent 1 month being lectured about 1968. Still not sure why it was so important. Takes months to hand back papers. Isn't open-minded about other people's interpretations on papers. Is in love with all bulgarian students

Pennybacker is wonderful. Can be a little bit of a pedant with papers, but she will improve your writing. Like all the other history department professors, she will make you work for your grade and does not hand out the A like a pice of candy (this ain't the music department, kiddies). Made me so much more interested in this subject than I was befo

This woman is a trip. knows her stuff and has lots of stories. Hard grader on papers -- watch your syntax. but she lets you rewrite anything you want so it works out. lectures are kinda random but she has energy and is funny.

boring boring boring... but very easy. the way she raises her voice at the end of every sentence was the the only thing disturbing my naps during class. she was very knowledgable tho, but i still couldnt tell you what the point of this course was, she doesnt really follow much of a pattern.

The best of the Cities professors by a pretty wide margin. She can be a harsh grader occasionally, but more than worth the potential hit your GPA might take.
