I took her for both 2A and Intro to Film. I've LOVED both classes. She teaches you how to look at films critical and analytically, her selections of films were very interesting. Both classes, all the exams come from the movies and clips she screens, so rewatch them if you need to, don't ditch class!

Susan is very qualified and passionate. Her film history classes can at times be boring due to the content, but she usually finds a way to keep students engaged. She is an amazing public speaker and is highly respected by students in the program. Her quizzes and tests are all based on her lectures, in-class screenings and light assigned readings.

Tavernetti is an amazing and passionate professor who loves film and wants all of her students to succeed. She is easy to access outside of class. Her tests are straight forward and mainly focus on the films she shows in class. She offers a major EC essay that can boost your grade my an entire letter! She is very understanding and effervescent!!!:)

I took both 2 A and B this quarter with Pro. Tavernetti. She's fun to talk about movies and filmmakers with, its like she's seen everything. She's so passionate! Every class she lectures, shows clips (memorize them) and screens a movie (rewatch or look it up on Wiki, to memorize for the exams) a quiz, mid-term, and Final, each with an Essay!

I took this class as a GE and it was not hard. Definitely study for the tests using the lecture and movie notes (the lecture notes are also posted online). She also goes over questions on the tests right before. Textbook is optional. There's a quiz, midterm, and final exam. Definitely do the EC research paper and screening.

If your a Film major, her classes should be a piece of cake. If you're not, PAY ATTENTION to clips and films she shows. Ask questions or visit her at her office. Exams are based off the clips and films she shows; mostly T/F, matching, and MC on the reading; I get stuck on those. Overall, great teacher!

Tavernetti is a great teacher! She can be firm at times towards students who don't follow her guidelines, she doesn't need to baby you. All you do is watch clips and than a great movie. She offers her time to help students, despite her busy Chair of FTV department schedule.

You can get an A easily if you review what you learn in the class. It does not matter if you have learned the film before or not.

She's a phenomenal teacher! If your into Film Studies, she's the teacher for you. People that don't do well in her class are mostly because they tanked on the tests and exams. She's not a hard grader, students just don't write well on their essays or ditch during the Film Screenings.

I received my first "B" ever from this class. It is not an easy A class especially if you have no prior film background. There are no + or - grades. Your overall grade is composed of four items weighted at 100 points each: assignments (you get full credit), midterm, paper, final. She grades hard. There's no extra credit and she doesn't round up.

She's the most popular choice to take FTV1. A great choice to take as one of your first FTV classes to learn the basics that you will carry on for rest of your film student career. She's a solid lecturer, a small worksheet due at the end of each class, and she does a in-class review of the material before a test.

Prof. Tavernetti is a solid instructor. I wasn't thrilled to have to take a film history course for my major, but she is passionate and a great speaker. While this class wasn't always the most exciting, I can't really say anything bad about Tavernetti. She reviews with the whole class before exams and emails out study guides. I would take her again

Great Class. Professor Tavernetti shows a great collection of films and has the best film knowledge out of all the FTV professors, none of them can rival up to her. This is my 4th class with her, exams and extra-credit are pretty much the same as always. Study the notes and re-watch the films and you'd get an A, even without the extra credit.

Susan Tavernetti and her classes have received overwhelming critical acclaim. Sorry if that shows like a tv review. But man, everything about her is incredible, her compelling and captivating lecturing, film sections, and her knowledge. A very respected teacher that every film student can learn from.

Took it for GE but I absolutely loved it! I was always pretty interested in film, but I learned even more from the class and the professor. She is super helpful super nice, you can ask her anything. Go to every class because there will be worksheets and that's how she counts attendance. Midterm, paper, and final.

Man we are so lucky to have her as our professor! We should be glad she doesnt teach at USC (she went there) Her film knowledge and lecturing style is just incredible and exquisite. The more you take from her, your critical view of seeing movies will never be the same. Any questions you have on which Film School to apply to, she can help you.

She's the reason I look forwards to my Fridays Her lectures and sections of films help take the Edge off. Her voice and lecturing style is 100% compelling and never boring. Im surprised she doesn't do voiceover work on the side. Quiz and Exams are not that hard as long as you study and remember the clips and movies she screens. Always rewatch!

She's a very seasoned and well knowledged professor who is good for someone not a film major and film majors alike. She knows her stuff and really is able to share her passion with the students. I learned a lot about film in her class and gotten to appreciate and understand different genres of film. Taker her if you can even get a spot in her class
