She's amazing. She covers a lot in class and engages everyone through discussion. Only major assignments are 2 papers plus the midterm and final, which she let us use a notes sheet. Her grading may seem a bit tough but it improves your writing skills, and she offers feedback to improve.

She's a great professor. Covers a lot in her class and keeps it interesting, and engaging. Class is in a discussion format, and covers basically all of American history. 2 papers plus the midterm and final, which we could use a cheat sheet on. Tough grader but improves your writing and gives great feedback. Only HW is reading

I took the class Contemporary American Lives and loved it, i took it as my HP credit. For the midterm and final she gave us the questions before the test and we were allowed to bring in one cheat sheet for both so there is no possible way you can not do good.

Although she's passionate about the subject, if you are NOT a history major then don't choose her as a professor! You will regret it. Her grading is hard and she can be a little condescending at times. Nice person outside of class, but don't take her classes if you are looking for distribution credit.

Overall good professor Very tough grader, but gives helpful feedback to improve work. Field trip was fun. No tests or quizzes, but a good amount of essays throughout the course. Also is good with advising, and will give you helpful advice about classes to take.

Professor Yohn gives out alot of readings and papers. Her classes are demanding but I learned alot. She is a nice person and she is willing to help you. She is also a advisor so she can help you with that. If you don't want a demanding history class, dont take her.

Assigns a LOT of reading...don't take the class if youre not willing to work for your grade. If you don't write papers exactly how she likes them you won't do well. She seems to want everyone to do well but only if she knows that you WANT to do well.

Is a good teacher at times, but tends to ramble about the same things covered from the previous class. Is a really tough grader that encourages you to think and explain everything out and will still give you a B. Class discussions can get interesting only when others in the class speak. Not the worst class to take.

I honestly did not like this class, it was all and only about contraception, i dont understand why teacheres in this school DO NOT teach what the discription says it is. This teacher is not on my top ten. I would not reccoment her or this class to anyone.

She urges her students to write thougtfully. Assigns creative writing assignments, THAT ARE ACTUALLY FUN! Class discussion is great. She does not overburden the student with work. I definitely recommend her to everyone.

Didn't agree with a word she said, but respected her anyway. Discussed Bush more than was appropriate for a Latin American history class, still smart& fair. Always available for help on the 50 million research assignments she gives.Take if u love history.

Yohn gives out a ton of reading in this class, really more than is feasible and I'm sure most students just skim parts of it. Very helpful. Claims her average paper grade is B-, so beware if you want to ensure an A average. Course is time-consuming.
