Beautiful woman. Mother Earth. Can tell read the energy of the room and sense what everyone needs. You learn to open up and face fears without ever feeling scared or intimidated. If you are honest and open you will get so much out of this class.

I have no idea who the majority of these reviewers are, but they certainly aren't talking about the same Susannah Berryman I had. Yes, she can be inconsistent and difficult to understand, a definite obstacle, but she will always encourage you to be imaginative, specific, playful, and above all sincere in your work. Warm and fuzzy all around! :)

This woman is amazing. She can pinpoint exactly what's working for you and what needs help, specifically working with clear similes and imagery. She won't spoon-feed you the answer, but she gives you all the tools you need to figure it out and will be SURE you get there, guiding you along the way. An incredible human being. You're luck to have her.

She lies. She's also unclear as a teacher -- exercises where you're not allowed to touch, but then she praises the one who does. Crp like that. She'll go behind your back to scrw you over, and she's the reason I will never donate to Ithaca College as a graduate. I'm not sure she could function in any other town, frankly. Very sad.

Miserable person & takes it out on students - willing to casually destroy a student's future to compensate for her own feelings of disempowerment- will attempt to psychoanalyze you, yet is neither qualified nor competent to do so- also, that's not what actual acting technique is - a MANIPULATIVE, VINDICTIVE, DISHONEST, HYPOCRITICAL COWARD: BEWARE!

She is the worst teacher in Dillingham (the theatre department) and the cause of many of the departments problems. If I had known I was going to waste an entire year as one of her students, I would have reconsidered Ithaca College entirely. She will seem trustworthy at first but is only looking for a new pet to analyze. Avoid her.

Susannah will try to befriend you, however in doing so, she is less trying to help you than she is trying to analyze you, which, if she can, will only hurt you in the long run. She is not to be trusted and can play serious games with you. If you're from her planet, she'll like you - don't know about you but I'd prefer to have some sense of reality.

Most fun class I have taken. Every minute used wisely. Not difficult, except for memorizing lines. She did dish out plenty of criticism, but I found it constructive and only appreciated her praise more. I'm not a theater major, but actors have to be able to take a lot of criticism. She called it as she saw it.

As a non-actor, this class really does not help me, and having her helps me even less. She is an actor's teacher and yet I am a production major. I build the set, I don't act in it. It makes no sense for me to have her. She is no help to techs/design majors.

Susannah is the WORST scene study teacher you could ever have. Freshman beware. I don't buy her mother-earth fakeness. She is rude and insulting, and has nothing to say about acting. She is vague and unhelpful. anyone who takes her class will be left behind.
