Dr. Kaufman was my favorite professor this semester!! She has super organized lectures with power points that outline her whole lesson. As long as your in class, the essays and test are fairly simple. But beware, her tests are almost entirely based of her lectures rather than the text book, so you have to go to class. Overall, and amazing professor

Dr. Kaufman is the best!! She's so knowledgeable, and sometimes knowledgeable profs are boring or confusing, but she's neither. Her lectures are all REALLY organized (great if you take detailed notes) and they're all so interesting. She finds ways to connect the content to politics and culture today. She was my fave prof this semester for sure!!

Class was very tough but very worth it. The only history class I've ever liked. The lectures are amazing. There is a ton of reading, and she is very tough with grading papers and will nitpick stuff that isn't to her liking but isn't necessarily incorrect. I recommend her if you want to truly learn but not for lazy kids who don't want to work hard.

Professor Kaufman is the best! She tries really hard to make her lectures interesting, and is super passionate about everything she teaches. You don't need the book, and the class consists of 2 papers, a midterm, and a final. If you ask her for help on your papers, you'll do great. Would absolutely recommend. One of my favorite classes at Loyola.

Awesome prof. Class is a guided discussion of readings. Does a great job of making sure discussion stays on track so the important stuff gets covered. Structured class, no surprises. Pick five (out of 11) papers, no tests, two movies! Lots of reading but you can skim and skip some readings if you go to class, pay attention, & take good notes.

Kaufman is very passionate about her subject. She gives amazing lectures, albeit somewhat boring sometimes. She only gives 2 papers and a midterm and final. You don't even need the textbook, just take vigorous notes. All in all she is a very intelligent teacher and her grading style is not too bad.

Kaufman really cares about what she teaches and has been one of the few professors I've had that has inspired me to work for justice. Her lectures are long and she grades her papers like an english teacher, but the class is fulfilling and she is very passionate. Take her if you want a meaningful and rewarding history class.

Very intelligent and passionate, the class was very interesting. If you engage in the readings and discussion, the papers aren't overly difficult but an A requires exceptional performance. I would definitely take this classprofessor again

Kaufman is phenomenal. Classes are entirely based on discussions based on readings, and my course was all essay grades. But she gives great feedback (quickly), is super understanding, and really wants you to succeed. She is passionate and engaging, and if you can take her I highly recommend it.

TONS of notes. She's very open to helping any student out. Takes attendance. 2 papers midterm and final which are both in class essays

I liked her & learned a lot from her. her classes are rly interesting and fun. It's important to attend classes and write notes by yourself. She gives study guide for two tests, and questions are straight from it. REALLY hard on the essays and exams! If you just want a essay A, don't take her. Take her if you want to really learn something.

HARD!!!!! Your entire grades are essays which she grades very tough. She even gives you the essay prompts that will show up on the midterm and final. I suggest you email her your essays to check before the tests and she give you awesome advice which boosts your grade. Before this class I was a senior with a 4.0 gpa, NOT ANYMORE!!! Damn A-'s!!

Kaufman was an amazing teacher. like the others below me said, she made the class very, very interesting. the only downfall was that she's a very tough grader. the entire grade is based off your writing ability. going to class is absolutely essential. she's extremely helpful in office hours. not an easy A---which she tells you from the start

Prof. Kaufman was AWESOME! I am NOT into history and was pleasantly surprised. Took her over the summer and it was totally worth it; she made the 3hr classes fly by, she is xtremely passionate about what she teaches. 1 drawback-she grades the papers and midterm/final like an english teacher, what's up with that? Otherwise, great, engaging class! :)

Great teacher! I was not expecting to enjoy the course as much as I did. She did a great job at keeping the class interesting. I took her over the summer and the she did a good job a keeping the 3 hours interesting. You don't need the textbook, but going to class is ESSENTIAL! Midterm/Final are based off of her lectures. I would take her again.

Professor Kaufman is hands down the best professor I have had here at Loyola. I came into the course expecting a boring, non-engaging history class, and I am so glad I was wrong. She made the long, three hour class fly by. She was extremely concise in everything she taught, and she made me enjoy going to class. I will definitely take her again.

Dr. Kaufman is probably one of the most intelligent, lucid professors I have ever had. Although European history is not my thing, she presented the material in a way that kept me interested from start to finish. I enjoyed her class so much that I took a second class with her and hope to take one more with her before I graduate. She's the best.
